Purple Afghan x Cheese F1

I cut 10 cuts from the lower spindly branches on the Purple Afghan x Cheese #2 today so I can share them around friends in the UK. I was just cleaning up the bottom of the plant prior to going into flowering. She's had 66 days veg and plenty of pruning so whe is really bushy. Repotted her into a 3.5 litre pot of coco today and staked her to some bamboo poles and put her in the wardrobe to replace the Blueberry x Zamalhaze Zamal pheno that I'm gonna chop tomorrow. I decided to take her out tonight so I can photograph her in daylight without flash.

The other Purple Afghan x Cheese that's been in 12/12 from seed is at 66 days and is flowering really slowly, a very strangely sativa expression from those parents, but the resin already appearing on the leaves looks like a good sign.

Could the sativa expression of phenotype be the environmental influence from the photoperiod, DjShort has reffered to this in his book...saying that 18/6 can encourage indica phenos in hybrids, and closer to equatorial photoperiod vice versa...? :joint:

What ya think about the 12/12 bringing out the mexi/lumbo traits in the Skunk#1 BH?:D

You have a point, I am familiar with DJ Short's writings about photoperiod, I have the book, and I have to say, you could be right. However, I've grown quite a few different plants 12/12 from seed and never noticed any difference.

One other thing to consider is that if she took 30 days to begin flowering, and has 30 days left, that adds upto 30 days growth and 70 days flowering, 100 days total, which isn't unusual considerign the PA and Cheese are both 65-70 day strains.

Also, it's the middle of winter here and during lights out, the temps can drop to below 15 degrees clsius, sometimes as low as 10, and that can slow flowering down.

Anyways, here she is at 70 days, she is 3 feet 3 inches tall and the top half is gonna be one long thin cola it seems. I'm sure she is the Skunk/Cheese pheno, don't see much Purple Afghan influence apart from the purple petioles. The resin is quite impressive for this stage of bud development I think, which is a good sign.

Hiya Ras

I think this pheno is going to be green, sadly, might have a tiny bit of purple by the time it;s finished, but looks like it will be green to me. The other pheno that just went into 12/12 is probably going to be purple, looks a lot like the Purple Afghan father, just slightly thinner leaf blades.

Yes, I am impressed with the resin, again, this indicates that this is the Cheese pheno as the PA isn't that resinous.

Here's the PA pheno after 8 days of 12/12, this lady looks just like the PA but with thinner leaves, she has just started producing calyxes at her topmost nodes. Another 10 days and I'll know for sure if she is gonna be purple budded. I had to add a lot more stakes and training wire as she has many tops and the stems aren't very strong, so needed staking. The PA has strong stems and didn't need much support, so this is another trait from the Cheese I think as the Cheese doesn't have very strong stems.

The Cheese pheno is now 90 days old grown 12/12 from seed and is looking really nice. She only has a small number of orange hairs but most of them are still white, so there must be a fair bit of time left yet. She has a lot of resin and smells lovely, quite like the original Cheese actually, pretty sweet but also funky, hard to describe but it's a nice, strong odour.

I harvested the Cheese pheno at 102 days of 12/12 from seed, which I reckon equates to 65-70 days of flowering.

She is still drying so no smoke report yet, but a little sample of the pocorn buds was tasty and seemed pretty potent.

The resin was impressive and the buds really pretty solid, but the yield doesn't look too great, but this was just an experiment with the 12/12 from seed method and seems a success to me.

Wow, that black bud looks fantastic. I'm soon going to be growing some DC for myself.

I grow in coco so the 1.5 litre pot is plenty big enough for a plant that size.
