do you think there is a market for a stealthy auto darkining greenhouse?

i have been researching this for a while now and ive come up with a design that from the outside would'nt look like a greenhouse at all- it would look like a shed made from white poly panels that look like opaque white vinyl - yet they allow ample sunlight through.

i'm wanting to run ads for the kit, but i'm wondering what kind of responce it would recieve.

it would be aprox. 10' x 12', and would cost less than $2000 us.

it will have all the materials except for the 2x4's.

it will have an electric curtain that can be set on a timer to regulate the photoperiod so several crops a year could be grown.

a larger model could be separated into a flower side/ w an auto timed shade, and a veg side, with no shade.

what do you think?

do you see a need for this?

would you buy one?

they have these already pick up a copy of high times, not to say you cant build a better product the one in the ad looked like crap.

got any pics or diagrams of what you have come up with so far? I would be interested. Do you think you will have any available for this season. Need any beta testers? haha Peace_highst

hey DJ,
the closest i have to a diagram is the way i described it in this thread:http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=78037

i'm only in the design stage right now, researching, and thinking.

basically, three sides, n, w, & e, will be opaque white vinyl.
and the south side and roof will be solexx.(which looks just like white vinyl but is translusent).

there will be an automatic roll up door on tracks (8-10 ft wide & 8ft long) that will be on a timer, and it will completly block out the sun when closed.

but i am going to build one for this season, and i;ll keep ya'll informed.

lol...beta tester....sign me up too.... my GH from my thread survived the 70+ mph winds....i still cant believe it....

I set up a rig to block out the sun for my first greenhouse. I got an aluminum pipe--cut a strip out down the center of the pipe. I made some stands out of angle iron that went on both main sides of the greenhouse and anchored in the ground. The stands had bearings that hold the pipes. I attached a tarp with screws inside the strip cut out from the aluminum pipe (this pipe spools up the tarp). Leading from the opposite side of the tarp are ropes that go over the greenhouse to the stand on the other side that has another smaller pipe (that spools up the rope.) The motors that power the system came from agriculture equipment (2 auger wagon electric tarp motors). I had timers set up on both electric motors for when to operate. Along the roof of the greenhouse was a narrow strip of aluminum sheet that the rope rubbed against. The system worked great and I was able to get two complete cycles in. I gave up on this 2 cycle method though because you can get better yield out of one cycle of some monsters with less overall work.

i think an automated black house would be perfect for running a bunch of different strains/clones during the summer especially in cali with all the clones going around. by the end of the season you could have a couple dozen different strains to smoke on for the next year.

i usually have a june/july harvest but the amount of work i do moving 5 gallon buckets (and bigger) in and out of my shed everyday ALMOST makes it not worth it. To come up with an automated darkening system for greenhouses would almost make october 'just another month'...lol...i can only imagine what it would be like growing those 18 week sativas without the sore back...........oh, and i still haven't gotten my beta model yet. did you even send it?...lol...(i just wanna get a jump on highst) keep us posted on your progress....

im about to buy a metal shed and replace the roof with polycarbonate panels myself. i am just gonna put clothesline running across to pull a tarp across to cover em up.

Yeah I was going to say they have a few models in High Times I saw. One of them is a smaller setup...looks neat.

But yeah.. if you could just grow a bunch more plants in the regular season it seems you could make a lot more harvest and not deal with the greenhouse in the first place.

Make it hapen!!
I dont see anyhing about auto darkening in the thread you posted, ANy updates? Progress? If you can make it hapen properly(ie ZERO light leaks+99% reliability)
I would pay a pretty penny for one.

I'd love to have one! and I'm sure many personal stash growers who prefer sunlight would buy one. I was just thinking the idea the other day. so it seems there isn't any small auto dark gh for sale anywhere?

I cant beleive havent seen the forever flowering site NICE FIND!!!
wow it is pricey, but looks 100X better than a growbot or a forceflowerer.
