I love how Jason King hits it on the head once again then with MA Super Skunk...'completely different and superior to Sensi's generic and weak dutch super skunk'. Mountain Grown Kush. Ocean Grown Kush.
Wrong about the Dutch

didn't MA super skunk come from Sensi's old original stock, then they lost a bunch of plants and the new version was used for giesel, so the MA would fall under "pre giesel" super skunk but it's still Sensi

There's this old thread here where someone says it was from SSSC?

Maybe they meant The Seed Bank?

stardawgXold sensi super skunk from AKBB, the shorter bushier super skunk pheno in front with actually pretty narrow leaf, and the stardawg pheno growing past the lights

those guys downplay the importance of PBud and his buddy in Colorado, making it sound like they were just copping lbs of the dogbud and chopping them down on Dead tour

iirc from podcasts with PBud they were growing the dogbud with some other strains and the seeds that ended up being found were possibly from an accidental cross with the dogbud, their cut of the original dogbud or what they were growing from a potential cross became known as "Crested Butte dogbud"

so it was actually already a distinctive cut before it ever made it on Dead tour, PBud deserves just as much credit for creating chem as sour crew deserves for creating sour

I've been following this story a long time and the idea that pbud growing anything back in the day is a new one for sure. Which podcast are you referring to?

I believe it was the Adam Dunn podcast, the one from 4/9/14 not the one with Chemdog, he comes on at 1 hour in

"we were growing lots of m39, skunk#1, and a hashplant that was phenomenal"

there are other mentions of it too

"Mike Nee’s long and unlikely path to the American dream began one spring weekend in Connecticut when, at age 15, he and a buddy decided to grow marijuana in the woods outside their high school."

his IG says "Growing grass since 1986"

He mentions growing the varieties you mentioned. But he states that they were getting the dogbud from someone else, and that they had been looking for seeds but never found any. But him and his inner circle never held or grew dogbud.

yeah the no seeds thing is easy to find, but I remember for a while maybe it was on another forum where the m39, skunk#1, and hashplant were being heavily considered as part of chem genetics, like in that other video they say they think D could be chemXsuper skunk, but m39 is nl5skunk so already an afghan skunk, I remember coming across stuff about Crested Butte dogbud too, a lot of it I can't find now, I think there was a big bust in Colorado at some point that included some of the people involved

then there's the Swami story where he supposedly has 87 dogbud from 2 females out of 6 seeds he got out of a lb at a Dead show but didn't think they were that great and crossed them with some of his other lines and didn't keep cuts

so it's rare to find seeds and when they are found they make different plants like D and #4 are not the same at all, and in that other video they cite the lack of variation in the 91s1, so how do you explain the sis? has anyone gone searching through 91s2 looking for different phenos? I think at some point, if the 91 was the original dogbud, it was crossed by someone before the east coast/sour crew and long before Swami because of the different phenos that ended up showing, and I think it is entirely possible the 91 is different from the 87 dogbud and potentially a cross too because of the sis

I would never believe swami, lol. But I also find the whole story hard to believe lol. If I had to guess the 91 and the original chemsis, not the bundy that is being grown nowadays. Were most likely the only bagseeds found back then. I'd guess the chemd all of them lol and the chem1-4 to be 91 hybrids of some sort. But that's like just my opinion man. Have you grown the 91, the chemd, and the chem4. Or the bundy sis?

I think when the story first started getting circulated it was told in a way to not implicate some of the people involved

I've never put too much effort into sourcing cuts because without proper genetic testing it's one of the easiest scams there is, I mean look at all the drama that unfolds even when it's a real cut involved, not to mention pests

I also think that some of the seed lines have better stuff to find in them, like as far as cuts go there are probably chem de la chem phenos out there that are just all around better

is the bundy sis the same as the s1 JJ/TopDawg uses?

The bundy sis is the same sis everyone uses as the chemsis since like 2006 I believe. Including jj

***Special thanks go to orgogliodiprovi and chemdog who helped me straighten out the story and exact details. ***

Brief background:

At a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek Amphitheatre, 'joebrand' (aka 'wonkanobe') and 'pbud' met 'chemdog' and sold him an ounce of very high quality pot for $500. joe and chemdog exchanged numbers and they later arranged for two ounces to be shipped to chemdog on the east coast. According to chemdog, one ounce was seedless and the other had 13 seeds.

In ’91, chemdog popped the first 4 seeds. From these seeds, one male was found and disposed of (chemdog was young, you can’t blame him). The 3 females were labeled ‘chemdawg’ (now ’91 chemdawg), ‘chemdawg a’ (now chemdawg’s sister), and ‘chemdawg b’. In '01, chemdog and his girlfriend attempted to germ 3 more seeds, labeled ‘c’, ‘d’, and ‘e’. the ‘e’ seed never germinated, ‘c’ turned out to be junk (according to chemdog), and chemdawg ‘d’ was the keeper. In '06, 'chemdog' and 'joebrand' reunited and joe was given 4 of the last 6 beans: Chemdawg phenos 1-4, '4' being the chosen keeper. Joe thought the '4' was the best representation of the original and thus dubbed it the 'reunion pheno'. Chemdog still has two seeds left in his stash.

Chemdawg Crosses:
• 'OG Kush' (the original cut) came from an s1 from in a bag of '91 Chemdawg in the Lake Tahoe area in 1996.
• 'Sour Diesel' aka ECSD came from an accidental cross of ('91 Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL)x DNL after the DNL hermed and seeded the room. The DNL's lineage is NL/Shiva x Hawaiian.
• Original Diesel' (also known as Diesel #1, Headband, Daywrecker Diesel, Underdawg) came from a cross of '91 Chemdawg x (Mass Super Skunk x Sensi's Northern Lights) done by a guy known as ‘weasel’.

• 'chemdog' and friends made several crosses that are held closely by a small group of friends and acquaintances. Among them are:

1. Super Snowdawg (Bubble Chem x [Super skunk x Oregon Sno])
2. Giesel (Chem D x Mass Super Skunk)
3. Bubble Chem (Chemdawg’s Sister x Sag's Bubbleberry)
4. Dawg Daze aka ChemHaze (Chem D x ’93 Sensi's NL#5/Haze)
5. Chemdawg D x Pbud (another old-school Colorado strain)

JJ-NYC has been working on a Chemdawg D-based seed line for several years now. He started by crossing Chemdawg D to Sensi's Afghani after thoroughly testing both Sensi's Afghani and Sensi's Hindu Kush to determine which was more stable and would be better for the initial cross. JJ then did a backcross, known as "Double Dawg." Several phenos of this circulate and several people still have beans. JJ's latest work to the line is a second backcross known as "Tres Dawg" which is just starting to get tested.

Rezdog of Reservoir Seeds recently released several Chemdawg crosses as part of his 'Trinity' charity auctions. The crosses included Chemdawg D x Sensi's Hindu Kush and Snowdawg x Sensi's Hindu Kush, Chemdawg D x Sour Diesel IBL, Snowdawg x Sour Diesel IBL, ChemHaze x Sour Diesel IBL and Giesel x Sour Diesel IBL.

Maybe they meant The Seed Bank?

There's two "Mass Super Skunks". One was made in Virginia and is not an actual super skunk and the other was found in a pack of Sensi Seeds Super Skunk. The one from VA that Skunk VA speaks about is a taller plant, more sour d looking in structure... kinda lanky and narrower leaves. It was created in the late 80s by mixing various skunk lines with each other and maybe some bx'ing... The other one is a shorter, more broad leaf afghan type that was found in an actual pack of Sensi Seeds original Super Skunk release and is the one thats been seen and presented in high times magazine back in the day and is also the one that JJ from Top Dawg uses.

I wonder if that 80's skunk mix is at all related to the RFK? it sucks there aren't more definitive answers but it's also fun that it's a seemingly endless rabbit hole
