if someone gives you something they stole for you to show the public, it is possession of stolen property regardless of whether you think (and you could be right) that the public needs to know this information for its own good. you can break the law for a good reason, but you broke the law. an intelligent / moral person would say "okay, i'm going to do this & face the aftermath with a clean conscience because it needs to be done." running and hiding is not the reaction of an intelligent/moral person doing the right thing. if the wheels of justice grind you into dust, knowing that you did the right thing is your reward. a judge and/or jury may very well agree with you & say "yeah, this is some bullshit here, we're gonna find you not guilty because you did a public service." but for that to happen, you gotta get out your big-boy pants & stiff upper lip & go face the music... so far, he looks like a punk thief .

As does the NYT , and Washington Post and every bastion of the press, which is in fact the foundation of our society, the only difference is that they stand shoulder to shoulder where he stands alone, but the principle sadly remains the same.
I would never pretend that we live in an even society, it is just that we do not often see such blatant case of one set of rules for me and another for you
as what we are seeing here.
This is quite similar to the Pentagon Papers which were sure as hell taken. The pardox being that though they did belong to the American people - we were just never supposed to see them.
Gravely concerned that we abandoned the first amendment to a bunch of deck-stacking shysters who never cared a great deal for democracy in the first place.

That's probably true to an extent. Maybe not impeachment but yeah, that shows exactly how Dems and Repubs are no different on key issues like this. Where they differ are the artificial wedge issues their parties create to polarize voters (abortion, gay rights, religion, etc.)

Those only matter if you’re a woman or gay or have any sort of beliefs. What’s really important is $15 an hour for burger flippers.
