oh shit,,,,,i was so exited about that hash press,,,,,,i posted to a thing that is from january !,,,,,,not to mention,,,,very stoned ! i still am about to make one of those ! everyone has awesome ideas ! ive learned more in a month than i ever have ! and i thought i was a professional ! THC4SIM - Dude, don't be making it that tight. Unless you got the stainless steel version, this thing can't take too much pressure without popping the threads. Just use some heat, take your time with little twists, and make it nice and snug. You're not building a battleship, just pressing a little hash.

I like to keep my bud in jars too - I picked this box up at michael's with jars for under $15 - added a lock and a better hing and she's all set - no sifting but that's not what I was looking for

Hey Pipe! Thanks for a great thread. I picked up my extruder from Michael's and gave it a shot. I have a little trouble getting my puck to seperate from the dimes. I think I may have torqued it down a little too much. Does this sound like my problem?
Here are three tricks that usually help. 1st, you can put a small piece of saran type plastic wrap between the puck and the dimes. 2nd, you can put a drop of olive oil on the dimes before you press. And 3rd, my favorite is to chill the entire press in the freezer after pressing, then just slip the tip of a razorblade between the puck and the dime, and it pops right off. Let us know how you make out and throw up a few pic's.

Thanks for the quick reply! I might do a bubble run tomorrow so I'll be able to try again in a week or so. I'll try to be patient and do the freeze trick and see what happens. Thanks again!

so guys i have a upcoming harvest coming, and i want to convert the trim matter and popcorn buds into some hash.
i have a kief box, do i just want to dry up the trim and then run it through the kief box?
or just pick up a coffee grinder, and grind up the popcorn bud and trim and dump hte stuff from the top into the press?

Your call. Depends on how pure you want it to be. If you use the kief box screen, the stuff will kick your ass, even if its from poor stock. On the other hand, throwing the "popcorn" in finely ground up is fine and makes for a nice smoke. The only thing I woudl stay away from is grinding and pressing the trim. Unless its primo quality trim, or you're are looking to press it for storage and/or transport, I'd screen it first then throw it in the mix with the popcorn. That way you'll be increasing the "kick" without adding more vegetation. That's basically my main method, super finely ground premium very closely trimmed buds, with screened kief add in to the mix. Is it true pure hash? No. However it's been much enjoyed by everyone that's tried it and kicked many an ass into next Tuesday. JMHO

i read a few post saying if you grind up the weed finely all the thc/kief gets stuck to the top of the coffee grinder. thats the stuff i want to use for the press right? or are you guys dumping all the grinded stuff in?
my plan of action from your post will be:
dry the trim, and put over either my kief box or a new screen
collect that put into press
throw popcorn buds or buds i dont feel are worthy of keeping, grind them up, collect hte kief off the top of the grinder and put that into press.
to my understanding that would be all kief and be high quality?
then i could put the finely grind material into the press and make lower quality or just smoke it?
