Is there still a plan to improve IC after the change earlier this year? ive not been following as i find it too depressing, there was talk of moving to new software a few weeks/months ago but i haven't seen any changes.

Yes. A new software vendor was found who's forums are acceptable. Inveiro or something like that. The migration delay comes from the huge number of images here. It seems hard to believe, but months of number crunching was estimated. This was reduced and beta testers have been chosen. Which is something you may help with, if you can mod your hosts file with the beta sites IP details. This sounds very close, and was a few weeks ago. We should hear something soon, I'm sure.

Unless it's a "hype" strain, nobody seems to care about journals. Experienced growers are mostly settled into their growing style so not looking for tips/secrets, and most inexperienced ones are not yet capable of appreciating what they see.

I stopped doing online journals a while back. I have my own notes and photos for personal reference and it seemed like nobody else gave a damn. I have no ill will, I rarely read the journals of others myself. ✌

Over the years as I gained experience; I too no longer had time to post up a journal/ diary online.
Personal notes and a few reminder photos is all I had time for then, I just lost interest.
In the beginning; I was stoked to share what I was growing etc, etc. I soon discovered that while
it was a great resource for my personal review/ note keeping... creating and keeping up an online
journal/ diary requires an incredible amount of time that I simply do not have to invest atm.
I am a gardener... I need to garden first and foremost

In speaking with and reading that other seasoned growers have also become disenchanted w/ the amount
of work/dedication that goes into keeping an online grow journal, perhaps this is one major reason as to why
forums are loosing their appeal to social media sites such as IG/FB and the rest?

Forums in general, need to up their appeal or they will go the way of the dino's IMO.

That said: ICMag Forums are an extensive wealth of information that IMO should not be lost.

Advertising on forums is probably daunting to a lot of advertisers as well. Given that many of the people on a specialty forum are likely more knowledgeable on the relevant topic than some marketing grad hired by a company to write copy, and that those same knowledgeable people can provide instant feedback (or trash the product elsewhere on the forum), the chances of a regrettable fuck-up are higher than with many other mediums.

There is no denying that forums do not easily fit into the marketing mix. They serve a unique and important function for honest market feedback that is difficult to manipulate by standard marketing techniques. This makes them a threat to the liars who pay for guerilla marketing campaigns and post fake reviews on the reddits and amazons of the world, aka most modern corporations.

Yep the guys are still working behind the scenes and you are right it’s the huge amount of pictures and galleries causing the delays but I’m hoping we get there soon , hang in there guys I will get ATUK to give an update as soon as he’s around , also it’s not a money issue so donations or a fundraiser is not needed save your money to buy seeds from our in house breeders here on ICmag or on seedbay

but hopefully won’t be long and an upgrade to xenforo

What is hurting this site (when it works) is uneven mod pressure, mostly against conservatives, while the commies get free run. That will stymie future donations from conservatives, at least one I know. Maybe the commies will let loose of some of their stimmy, but I doubt it.

I did go and take a look at insta, I found I'm too old and set in my ways now to start over. If ic ever shuts it's doors, I'll just stay offline then. I take breaks when I need to, then come back again. Next year my account will be old enough to vote, I can't just walk away, even though I just looked at what used to be called my friends list, and noticed a lot of them haven't been around in a decade. Good point. The thing with communists is that they have truth allergies and lack sound arguments. This is why they necessarily identify the source of their problems as the person posting arguments against them, whom they will ban after the motto of Joseph Stalin who declared: no person, no problem. Additionally, it is the goal of communists to infiltrate, subvert and ultimately take over organisations and plattforms. I haven’t seen too much of this marxist bias here though it has become endemic in many places where you used to have freedom of speech. So it is certainly something to be aware of.
