what about people like shantibaba/neville and dj short? they've been putting out the highest quality beans possible for YEARS. their work is seriously destined to be legendary, most "breeders" dont hold a candle to their accomplishments.

Diego, you are confusing quality cuts with quality seeds. Rez throwing pollen at elites is nothing compared to the 30+ years of work DJ Short has put into his seedline, same with shanti. Hell Breeder Steve has been in the major seed game for only a little longer than Rez but has managed to work a few lines very succesfully as opposed to jumping on the next bandwagon whever it comes rolling along.

Sorry diego, no offense meant at all, but that comment was ill informed and just plain false.

I say again - anybody can collect elites and throw pollen at them; work a line for 5 or 10 years to create a true breeding, stable seedline from P1 parents and then your a breeder in my book

Seriously. What I like about DJ Short is he treats phenomes like colors and uses breeding to create unique creations like an artist with paint. Making a stable hybrid from a clone ( SD X NYCD) isn't easy. But creating a strain from scratch using landrace genetics to match a personal vision is in a different league.

If you read about his category systems and the amount of work it took to take juicy fruit thai etc. to make blueberry , flo... it's amazing.

Sam the Skunkman is on that level IMHO. Popular as it is to poo poo Sk#1, it is observed to be a very stable plant and a three way cross. An original. Again a different league and also from a different time where it was possible to have large populations ( Pre CAMP.)

But there are different kind of plants. Some are like McDonalds and some are like Chez Pannisse ( or Filet Mignon for the non foodies). Sometimes, junk food is good, but it doesn't compare.

I am no expert and my little experience making my own crosses leaves me with much appreciation for the time and work it must take to make a stable cross. Much less a GREAT stable cross.

Who was the original mystery breeder of the chem? Was it a fluke or is there some cool old hippie with a jar full of magic beans some where.? The genetics ( Oaxacan, thai, etc...) would be great to know.

And if you have ever tried explaining something simple to a stupid person, you come to realise that no matter how many ways you put it, they are simply not capable of understanding you. Don't waste your time, you will just be misunderstood anyway.

High and Lonesom, I said on a constant basis. Granted quite a few come out with 1-4 strains per year yea, but 4 being a lot. Rez however has released about 10 plus this last year alone. Thats why I stated on a constant basis. Granted Greenhoues puts out a few, I have yet to see a company come out wiht more than 5 strains a year and more like 10. Thats what I meant by that.

I bet Rez sells just as many as the other breeders, maybe a little less. Dont judge some one just because their breeding methods. Seeds are seeds, I am not distinguishing between landrace, Ibl, blah blah. I am saying that his seeds do differ. a SDx kush aint gonna be the same as a wonderx kush no matter how you slice it. If you want to talk about a pollen chucker Reeferman does the same thing. So has MOD. I mean just cause pollen was used doesnt mean the person isnt a seed breeder. Look at Somas whole g13 line up, your statement just doesnt make sense. I dont like arguing the little things, but just think dissing someone cause of their breeding skills is kiddish. Especially when you havent done all the research on other breeders. I just state obvious and Rezs IBL and Sd line literally kills a lot of strains out there. Its not my favorite, yet it is in my top 10. Your comment doesnt make sense guerilla.

The main reason people hate on Rez is his negative attitude and lack of respect he shows most people... just one of many examples: In the Bog preservation thread he just pops in and says "Why Bother?".... Thats my question, "why bother?" to pop in that thread and spew negative bullshit? What Bog ever do to you? Its been going on for years with the guy pulling that kinda BS and thats why the hardcore heads thats been around for awhile have no respect for him as a person or a breeder. You can bake a cake two ways... buy the box of the pre-made mix where you just add milk and eggs or make it from scratch without cutting any corners. You could only end up with several of the dominant phenos and end up not even seeing one or two of the four phenos. I think you need 25-30 beans to really get a feel of what a strain is about but thats just my opinion.

Yup... you need 20 - 30 to make sure you get 8 or 10 females...
I never said 10 seeds... I said 10 females... very important defference.

If a line can't give me fairly uniform and quality females out of 10, I don't need to waste my time growing 50 seeds...

I was gifted a lot of 50 seeds from the sky and this real nice cut came up, maybe you can PM joe and see if he's interested in running your Chem D/Hindu or Chem D/Sour IBL next to my Urkle x Bubba and Chem D pure and then getting some samples out there to some members with upstanding reps?

All luck of the draw I grew 30 DJ Short's Blueberry and 30 DJ Short's Flo and did not find one female worth keeping all I kept was a Male...and he lives on now only through the Obsidian...It depends on the genetics, but I can tell you from untested stock with a untested male father who knows what your going to get.....I only kept 2 females from my HK grow and my best pheno was a needle in a haystack pheno....It all chance you could grow 10 beans and get a nice pheno , but more then likely you will not get one of those killer phenos...Shantibaba grows 100's even thousands of parents to choose his stock...Out of every hundred beans I will find 3-4 intersting things to work with not neccessarily keepers , but unique enough to work with...
