Also, regarding the emerald cup and there pesticide and fungal tests.
A lot of entry's failed on the fungal tests.

What I want to know is if you inoculate your plant/ soil with beneficial bacteria/ fungas
Have you inadvertently spoiled your crop ?( in the eyes of the fungal test) And would these beneficial s cause a neg result?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but while your about I thought I'd ask.

Is it because ofl using diff standards? Why has a standard Standard not been devoloped?

Human errors, lacking education, no interest in good and clean working procedures... It's usually (not always but usually) not the equipment and fortunately seldom (though with illicit substances still not unheard of) the chemicals but nearly exclusively what people do with them

Also, it highly depends on sample collection, preparation, and work-up which are often made by the grower and too often aren't in the SOP.
True, there are inter-lab and intra-lab differences. But these can be minimised by proper calibration and maintenance and they should be consistent and predictable like lab A overestimating by 2% and lab B underestimating by 1.3%. If a lab tests the same sample twice and gets more than 10% SD (which is generous but it's plant extracts and I've got a good day), then there's something off and finding the error will be fastest when starting with the people and not the chemicals and equipment. If lab A always gets higher % than lab B, compare the standard operating procedures before comparing their chemical standards.

Only if you spray your flowers/buds with it

. Tests are often done by microscopy wherein you see the growing hyphen. Spraying some spores might even go unnoticed....

Now you can see the correlation of terpenes and essential oils its right here in type. In nature your plants pick and choose the terps they want because they are on the wind. Now growing inside would greatly reduce that natural influence. As well as growing hydroponically due to lack of natural terps hidden in soil not used in hydroponics. That is why the terpene profiles of the same strain are different in %. It depends on where, how, and who grew it. Thanks for Posting this Sam you just proved my theory. I have been researching these same lists and graphs for sometime now.

Hey yall, just stumbled in, wicked cool thread! Its not directly terpene related, but there was a paper mentioned on HC on sunday by Ernest Small entitled ,"Size matters: evolution of large drug-secreting resin glands in elite pharmaceutical strains of*Cannabis sativa*(marijuana)". I got a hold of it yesterday, its interesting stuff. He came up with an equation where if you know the age of the material you can determine the original "live" size of the trichome by meassuring the aged sample. Not sure of its usefulness, but cool. Anyway its only 11 pages and reads easy if anyones bored. Just thought some of you guys would get a kick out of this too.

Haha probably shoulda guessed that. Its pretty cool. One of the best points made, and of course you have to question the sampling, but the fact that AVERAGE gland head size of almost all the drug varieties was found to be 120+ microns, he said they measure all heads in a field of view so they didnt have the bias of just picking out nice juicy heads. So if the bigger the head is proportional to the canabinoid and terpene content, folks are probably losing their best stuff in screens bigger than 120 microns with water collection.
