Objectively speaking both parties have run to the right. Specifically when Bill Clinton became President and turned the party from 1970s hippie libs to suit and tie 1990's corporate democrats and it has only continued (& gotten worse to this day).
I find it hard to believe Elon Musk doesn't know the difference between a liberal and the left. Especially since he has called himself a socialist before. All these people contribute to the same muddying of the discourse. Not an honest actor in sight.

Open borders is largely republican propaganda. The borders weren't open under the last democratic president and they're not open now. Democrats are deporting migrants at a higher rate than Republicans.

universal basic income & universal welfare programs are in response to the failures of capitalism. as is the increasing shift of people, especially young people who are disillusioned with our capitalist economy and know we can do better by moving beyond capitalism (socialism).
"governments shuttering small biz" was in direct response to the covid pandemic. it worked just fine in other countries where they paid workers and business owners their entire yearly salaries to stay home. the problem is liberals are/were too capitalistic to actually do that. the entire covid response from the start was basically a tug of war between science and capitalism. that's why every other week fauci came out and discredited himself from what he said a week before. this isn't a left wing or right wing policy.

One of the biggest cringe moments for me was the Democrats chanting ”let them in” at the migrant caravan. Even if the politicians wont say that publicly, a lot of their base feels that way.

threads like this make me mourn for the once free thinking community of growers that understood who the real enemy was. The establishment. The same one that told every one of us marijuana was as deadly as the heroin they flooded our country with leading to an opioid epidemic . Not only that but carrying water for the man that drafted one of the most damaging bills of the entire drug war...funny and sad to see growers only rebuttal to supporting all that is "but trump"

The Democratic Party has been mirrorying the same seeds of communism that my family experienced in Cuba, to a T, in such a identical and sobering way that anyone who thinks that's not case, should as mentioned before , study history more than you study twitter. Funny that the most vocal supporters of this party have never experienced communism in their life...well give it a couple years of supporting these fools and im sure you will sooner than later

This shift in the Overton Window quite literally created the divide and fueled the polarization of our politics. Not because each side is the polar opposite...
