METAL!!!!

Re: Skank - Hard not to like a band with that bent over slut in the logo. Their sound is a little bit generic though.

I have been enjoying a metal renaissance in my life. Saw Maiden twice this summer after missing them on the World Slavery Tour in the 80's and regretting it ever since. Iron Maiden is the elite heavy metal band in existence. You can't get much better than the first five albums.

An awesome crossover album from English Dogs: Where Legend Began. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0VhWHSfDkQ&feature=channel

Can't believe I've never seen this thread! Now were talking! I'm a little over 40 and have been addicted to metal for as long as I can remember. My 1st concert was when I was 8, my Dad took me to see Kiss. Since then I've been to thousands of shows. :headbange

1st time I saw maiden was 83. I've seen them a dozen or so times since and in the last couple years I've seen them 3 times...they are pretty much rocking just as hard as ever. They were slumping for a few years but since they got Murray back and decided to roll with all the old hits, it's a must see show!

Tomorrow is Ozfest for me:) Some great bands on the lineup. Hope Exodus does the wall of death again! We had some fun in this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eRq2okxhlg

In a couple weeks....Slayer, Megadeath and Testament...now that's going to be one great show!

I'm not a hard core metal freak, but certainly do like my heavy music. My musical cradle :)

This summer I got back to this band: Sweet Noise.
You most likely never heard of them, so here is a chance to check out the sound. Unfortunately my favorite song from the newest album is not on youtube. I gotta figure out how to upload it. A little taste can be found in the intro to the album though. Chaos it's called.

each album different style:

Cisza < love the video

Bruk < this one as well
Wyżej

Kim jestem
Z głębi siebie

N.U.E.R.H.A.

Give it all away

and a live performance:

there are both a polish and an english version of their second and third, but not on youtube I'm afraid.

This is a band coming out of Germany called We Butter The Bread With Butter...They call the genre Hip Death Pop but whatever they call it, it's heavy as fuck. I've been getting into a lot of nintendocore lately too, which predictably enough, is metal mixed with nintendo sounding keyboards...pretty righteous, check out Horse the band or Powerglove.

Hello fellow metalheads!!!

Im stoked to find this. Im also very pumped to see some stoner metal fans in here. Im really more of a Proto-Metal guy, but have love for almost any kind of music.
Lately I have been digging on:
Blue Cheer
Budgie
Black Sabbath (I just realized that I have almost every album in every format, even the OLD minidiscs)
Thin Lizzy
Cream
Funkadelic (Eddie Hazel was the fuckin MAN!!!)

My all time fave bands are:
Black Sabbath
Hendrix
The Stooges
MC5
Blue Cheer
Cream
Rush (same as Sabbath, every album almost in every format)
IRON MAIDEN
The Cult (not really metal, I know)
Sleep
Kyuss
Electric Wizard
Thin Lizzy
SLAYER!!
Danzig
Opeth
QOTSA

and two relatively newer bands I have really liked are Earthless, and Saviours

And Hendrix, Cream, and Blue Cheer's and a few other Psychedelic bands influence on Metal CAN NOT be overlooked. Iommi may have created the "sound" but he was listening to those bands, and the Count Basie Swing Band (have a listen, you will be blown away, especially the stuff with Jimmy Rushing on vocals)

Olivieri, Bjork and Garcia last played together when they reunited this past June for an appearance at the Hellfest, which took place in Clisson, France. Nick and Brant joined John on stage to perform the songs "Gardenia" and "Green Machine" during a headlining appearance by Garcia's GARCIA PLAYS KYUSS project. Video footage of that performance can be viewed below.

Commented Garcia: "You know, the whole reason I ever considered doing this with Brant and Nick was the feeling we all shared during Hellfest this year. To be able to play with such amazing musicians again is a dream come true for me. This will also be a huge chance for me to let everyone know about GARCIA VS GARCIA which should be coming out fall of next year."

Since KYUSS, Garcia's musical projects include SLOBURN, UNIDA and John's most recent band HERMANO, plus side projects with THE CRYSTAL METHOD, DANKO JONES and countless others who embraced the singer from the Southern California desert.

KYUSS, the inventors of Desert Rock, have been in the last ten years much more popular than when they were still around in the early Nineties. So, due to massive public demand over the years to play songs from his old cult band KYUSS, John finally made the decision to give the fans what they want.

The last couple of years John Garcia thought often about reviving his KYUSS legacy on stage. The more he thought about it, the more he really wanted to do this. John commented: "I don't want to do this just for myself, but especially for the fans. Both for the ones that have seen KYUSS live back in the days, and especially for the ones who haven't had that chance. This could be as close as they could get to the real thing. Please bear in mind that this could be a one-off unique opportunity!"

John Garcia (born in San Manuel, Arizona, September 4, 1970) is a vocalist who has been a member of KYUSS, SLO BURN, UNIDA and HERMANO. His vocals have become synonymous with modern stoner rock and the desert rock sound. While still in high school, Garcia help start KYUSS (originally known as SONS OF KYUSS) in 1989 with guitarist Josh Homme. The band produced five albums in total, all of which featured Garcia on vocals.

In October 1995, just three months after releasing what could be argued as their breakthrough album "...And The Circus Leaves Town" (thanks to MTV airplay), KYUSS broke up. Their last recording was a 10" vinyl on the now-defunct label Man's Ruin Records, which was later re-released on a split CD with Homme's QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus ever since and has reached a legendary status, influencing thousands of new young rock bands.

Our tastes overlap a lot. Classic metal and stoner metal rules. Jimi, Sabbath, Stooges, MC5, Iron Butterfly, Funkadelic, Hawkwind, early UFO, Maiden, Monster Magnet, Helios Creed, Soundgarden, Melvins, countless NWOBHM bands...

This is a band called Rollercoaster of Tranquility. Okay, it isn't metal, but fuck if it isn't HEAVY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G4_dGxIXmM
