Update time!

Update time!

Ok well I hope every one had a good thanksgiving. I still have leftovers... :yummy:
Thanks Big Toke i can not wait till i get this system dialed in its a little funny with a new system and strain. It is not far off my other one its just much better! :woohoo:
I also had some unexpected suprises in that i had my pump outlet snap clean off and shot h2o all in my cab and soaked my carpet... :badday: then due to the shelf the buckets were sitting on got water logged it broke :pointlaug ....so i spent the weekent rebuilding my shelf installing a new pump and res as the one i had was just a little to small and the other i had was to big...murphys law....

I am back in action with not much delay so on with the update day 23. :lurk:

They just grow up so fast! :yoinks: bad light :spank:

ok i have been busy with the holidaze but here are some more updated day 33-45.
I had changed out my res as i was getting a lot of mineral deposits due to hard water....Big Toke i know you are a big proponent for tap water in the bio buckiets but my tap is .7-.8ec and ph7.8-8
I think that that is too much mineral deposits in my water? Anyone?
With that when i refilled and ran one of my buckets somehow got the water flow restricted and for 5 days i did not realise that was the problem. i thought taht just that one plant was nute sensitive. All the fan leaves started to yellow and die off. But the clone that i have in the cab from that plant was doing just fine???
I have corrected teh problem and all is well.

I am really looking forward toe the Apollos Mist. I removed a buch of sucker branches yesterday and am awaiting those to dry for a sample.

does anyone know how long to let these ladies go?
I ready one report on OG that they had let them go 75 days :yoinks:
I hope not. Most of teh posts on A-11 are harvesing around 60ish and th kali-mists are around that 75-80 days :chin:
I hope that i do not have to wait 75 days that will suck. I think that i ended up with a more A-11 pheno (shorter more compact larger resin production, looks like velcro) and a kali-mist pheno(streatched like a bean and has softer resin production) I think that i will be keeping teh shorter pheno as it is more conducive to my growing environment. but time will tell.
On with the picts!

the twins...

Thanks 00420 I had put some thought into the design and i think it is paying off!
I love the root growth with this system it just rocks! I have NEVER had roots like this before. except with my hydro moms and that was months of growth in DWC!
This system surpasses anything that i have used and do not plan on changing it any time soon.
Merry Christmas

yo im glad to see someone designing a biobucket system thats in a 3x2 space. you got a part list for what you finally used to put it all together?

the supplies

the supplies

I yi captain the list......
Well lets start with:
~1 cab 3'w X 2'd X 6'h
~1 sheet[4'X8'] 1/2" or 3/4" plywood (shelves)
~2 sheets white bathroom lamanent(interior lining)
~2 6' long 2" X 2" (support for shelves)
~1 sheet 1/4" plyboard (somethig thing for the back of the cab yet sturdier than the flimsy cardboard that most cabs come with.
~6 3 gal buckets (just incase and it is always nice to have the extra around so you can pull out your ladies)
~1 roll black duct tape or whatever you wish to blacken the buckets
~10' 1/2" black poly tubing
~numerous 1/2" elbows, t's and assorted fittings for the plumbing (i highly recomend the 1/2"threaded to polyline fitting for the intake on the buckets with the threading on the inside of the bucket, it allows for more h2o flow than the 90 deg polytube fittings. this is an example of what you do not want (EDIT: upon completion of this run i recomend these as they will stir the water better) http://www.hydroponics.net/i/333150)
~4 1/2" valves (i used the black drip irrigatrion ones. they are cheep but a PITA to move[close/open] but work well with the soft line plumbing.) I also recomend adding an extra line with a vlave so you can empty your res via that. i have to physically remove my res and it is a PITA i will be adding the drain line later.
~4 3/4" pvc elbows(drain out of bucket)
~4 1/2" rubber gromets(like these http://www.hydroponics.net/i/241164)
~1 1.5"sump pump drain hose
~3' of 3"-4" black pvc for mail drain line
~2-3 90deg 3"-4" elbows for main drain line
~6" net pots (enought for the buckets)
~1 bag lava rocks
~15 gal res
~3/4" plumbing from res to pump.
----(I got a 3/4" bulk head from my local fish store that i use to connect my plumbing to my res with. then went with a 90 deg elbow to a quick release to the pump see this pict for a visual)
my pump says it must be submerged to keep it cool so i put it in a tupperware container and sealed the plumbing in to the container and filled with h2o every 2-3 days. works great!

~1 400 watt hps light in DIY cool tube
~256 dayton (upgrading to Eco Plus 6 Inch Fan 440 CFM w/ speed controler)
~1 6" X 2.5' DIY carbon scrubber
~4 90+ cfm CPU fans on speed controler for air circulation and res chillin.
---[I have 2 in the cab, one in the utility chamber and one cooling my res]

Hope this helps. With a little imagination and craftsmanship you can put one of these together with all those parts listed.
For me this has been 1 year in the making for the buckets in the cab as i had most of the parts but i was originally trying to fit 6 buckets in there that would have been a nightmare. This 4 bucket design is really nice and works great for me. This is the lowest mainenance grow style that i could think of that i have tried and read about.

Here is a pict in progress so you can see the layout

I think that i would have to start a new thread for the total construction of this but if you wish i could start one but you got to give me a few days to get it all put together.

Thanks Alex-f same here as i just puffed some of the trimmed out preme buds. The smell is like an citrusy orange smell on my plants. Kinda like orange flavored chewable mulit vitamin like what you give to kids. The smoke is a bit harsh as it is really green and not flushed I might just vaporize what i picked.

How did yours turn out? How long did you have to flower till they were done? I to have a streachy one and a more compact pheno as well.very interesting

day 60!

day 60!

So here we are day 60 and let me tell you i am very impressed. These gals have done very well in my cab and i think that i am about 10-15 days from harvest. I have the 2 clone planes and the 2 seed plants 8 days apart on 12 and 12 so i figured at 75 days that is perhaps 5 days to far for the seed ladies and 4 days to soon for the clones or somthing like that. I have not seed any naners on these ladies and i do have to do some work in low light during dark time. The male i had did his job well and i have so far about 30-40 seeds already from the small popcorn nugs that i trimed off

The little sample buds that i am vaping now have a green unflushed flavor but that is exacitaly what they are. the high is.... well let me post and i'll tell you at the end. On with the show the picts are labelled seed or clone and what day they are on.
I'll try to separate the phenos lets see..
1st up is the a11 pheno (my unprofessional opinion please chime in anyone who knows  )
She smells more like pungent spice

:yummy:

Here is the Kali Mist pheno
She smells much fruitier i like it very much. The seed gal got some h2o flow restriction to her bucket causing some stunted growth. The clone also has fatter buds than the other but not as dense...yet!

Here are some family photos

And one of the twins

So the smoke is smooth and expansive taste is green but the smell is sweet. I am very stoned of of one bowl of each in the vape :bat::woohoo::bashhead:
....I have to go now... :smoweed:
thanks for stoppin by

Hey thanks Spliff, Rez, captain, and chef! I am glad you are enjoying the show. Things have been growing great and the buds keep getting bigger and bigger. I think that i will have my largest harvest todate in my cab with these genes.
Rez would you say 70 days for these gals would be about right? I keep checking teh trichs but It isn't that easy for me as i can not see to well.

Chef you will be very pleased with teh outcome I do recomend topping and LST with these gals but they will branch our and each Main branch should fill with bud.
I can not wait till harvest when i can get full plant picts for you all to see how these ladies are outside the cab. How is thw growth on the c99's i know they have some parentage in the a-11 side so i am curious how those trates have transfered?

Splif i do not think that you could go wrong from everything that i have read they are fairly uniform in phenos limiting them to 2 phenos.

I sould be back with new picts from harvest time soon.

Hey Raygun how are ya?? The C-99 growth is vigorous but honestly the AK-99 seems to be the bushiest and will probably give me the most weight. The Apollo Mist is just starting 12/12 today along with the rest and I will keep everyone updated
Thanks
Peace Chefboy
