Yet another electricity usage thread...

Ok guys so I've got a question.

I recently upgraded to a 3rd 600w hood, 3x600, and while upgrading I decided it would be in my best interest to buy a 10,000 BTU A/C.

Ok so I got everything installed and running, and got to thinking....

How much electricity usage is SAFE?

Any general rule of thumb??

My bill was very low to begin with now its going to skyrocket by over 300%.

I understand "just pay your bill on time and you'll be fine" but that's not good enough for me, but maybe im just paranoid.

So anyone have any input or something that may make me reconsider or just forget all doubt?

Thanks in advanced!

In a house.. no big deal. In an apartment... with proper sound proofing and odor control.. not a big deal. I've ran 1600w in apt before with no issue.

yea if your in a house ... i wouldnt worry ..my bill when i moved in went almost 500% More then the previous owner (our bill compares this month with last year in the same month )

... id be more worried that all those lights and the A/c were not overloading any circuits .... make sure of that first and foremost .... if u are in a apartment ....take preventative measures to lower your usage take out extra light bulbs on multi bulb lights ... switch to Cfl on all lights .... turn fridge and house ac up a few degrees and or (heater down ).... dont leave not used electronics on .... just be energy Consciousnes .... youll be fine

Sweet!! Thanks for the great advice.

I have taking some pre-measures to put the AC and 1 light, + 2 other lights and fans on TWO separate 20 amp breakers.

I am going to replace all these stupid lights in my kitchen and bathroms with CFL's. I can only imagine how much that will save (even though they're rarely on to begin with).

Thanks everyone making me feel a little better about energy consumption...

If you live in your own house, and have the sunlight + money to do it, i'd suggest a solar water heater as it'll drastically cut your power usage allowing you to add more to your load.

well most water heaters use gas, not effecting your electric usages so save your money. relax about the power. people use power for shit other that growing herb. 1800w plus a a/c isnt anywhere even close to alarming. I do not think there is a single person ever caught by strictly a power bill
