I'm talking if we invade Iran. We've been poking them with a stick for 20 years. 20 years of couched antagonism and surrounding their country with military bases. That's not the same as rolling US Army tanks through their streets and occupying the country.

If we invade Iran with as combustible as the Middle East is right now. I would imagine there would be a shit storm unlike we've seen in a very very long time.

Why didn't we do that then when we rolled US Army tanks thru the Streets of Iraq and Afghanistan and occupied those two countries?

One should keep open the possibility that the note was left as a misdirection.

Perhaps but that would be more likely if there wasn't the first note that went unreported. Since there was no assault with the first note it strongly suggests that this was an actual attempt to get the family to leave and the assault was an escalation of the threat implied by the notes.
