which model leds can rival a 1000w hid?

Been thinking about ditching hids because of the heat issues associated with it. I was wondering which led lights can compare to a 1k hid? With a 1000 watt light my plants can get to about 4 feet tall with a 5x5 footprint and not have to worry much about light penetration. I average 1-1.5 lbs per cycle depending. Any suggestions?

Question of the century there brother. Lemme know when you find one. I'm on advanced led lights pre order status to get their new light thats not out on their site yet. Its a 5 watt xte cree flower light thats got 100% control of the led color mix an runs them at 3.9 watts. Im thinking this might be the one to compete with 1000k hps but they dont have a square light. They are in a rectangle shape go figure.

See my recently completed thread

I used a BML SPYDR 600 over 2 Med-Man Silver Skunk Bx1 plants in a 2 x 4 space, but the SPYDR evenly covers 3 x 3 and will light 4 x 4

One pheno was over 200 gms: the small one ~ 50 something (actual weight in my thread)

If I had 2 of the large phenos I would have pulled > 454gms

I keep seeing an ad on youtube when I click on my vids, with a side by side w/ a 1000w hortilux. I think It's a blackdog. They say it compares. I dunno. Looks decent. Couldn't tell you personally.

munkey, There is a u-tube video of a guy who did a side by side with a Apache Tech 600, and a 1000k HID. He got close to the same yield as the HID. The difference was about an oz maybe. The name of the video is: Harvest Apache Tech AT600 vs 1000HPS Days 61/62/63 Blue Dream Check it out. It is impressive in terms of seeing just how much healthier the LED plants look and the colors the LED's bring out.

The Apache Tech 600 is pricey-the long version is over 2100.00.

Read up what others have to write there is a wealth of knowledge here.

Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkuwpcjAkAGLLqNJi6MOEOw

FYI you can buy 2 SPYDR 600s which would cover up to 64 sft for less than the AT AND you can choose your own spectrum

Did you fuck up your math? Yes, indeed.

2(4x4)=32

or

(4x4)+(4x4)=32

I just was over at YouTube and see a grow with two growblu 120x3 think it came out to about 570 watts and he claimed a gram a watt so that's not bad.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Lets say I want to cover a 4x4 or 5x5 area and pull around 1.5 to 2 lbs. Which led lights can do that?

Your best bet for getting that kind of yield in a 4x4 is to do aero or hydro and find the most powerful LED possible. One problem that comes up w/ LEDs, and the reason why I think they don't do as well, is that they focus too much of the light on a small space. Even the AT600 has this problem:

If you raise it up to 30" it covers a 3x3 very well, however. Maybe at 36" it would improve even more.

The COB models are supposed to have better coverage, but make whomever you buy from do a test...

I have been pondering ordering this light its by far IMO the best bang for the buck it covers 5x5 area more like 1000 watt would price is pretty good if it turns out to be a failed attempt to achieve 1000 HPs status it would be a perfect light supplement for any grow
I am still not sold on LED as like many others to many bias opinions guess only way to really find out is try one for my self and compare overall veg growth , plant health , and most importantly YIELD Draw power 760 watts i think lol so if it yielded 760 dry grams then its a super buy
