Where are the F2's and S1's of "hot" genetics?

While getting beat up on a thread I started about seed prices, I was looking around seedbay and was wondering why there is such a lack of F2's and S1's of the "hot" genetics.

You telling me someone wouldn't make 10k F2's of, oh say, Rez's Chemdog IBL or any of his other quality genetics, then take those seeds and sell them for $40 a pack on the bay? I don't know if a person actually gets money from the bay or just credit.

With the S1 craze, there should be S1's flowing out our ears. And yet I really see nothing. Why aren't we seeing more of this?

All I see is shit like a Capt. Kirk x Nimoy---$100 pack of 10. <----Dramatized for effect.

Are people not being allowed to sell genetics that would deflate the price of the originals? I see a few "team up" strains. Where someone is "allowed" to make some hybrid.

Are some breeders being protected by their distributors at our expense.

It's alright to copy the hell outta Ak-47, but don't you dare touch Chemdog?

If the original is available, most people will prefer the original over an F2, even if the price is high. F2's tend to have more variation, forcing one to pheno hunt. I like f2's for that reason, but that's another conversation.

S1's don't always turn out to be a good representation of the parent. Why do S1's for strains you can buy?

Hot items tend to demand higher dollars. Supply and demand. Just look at Beanie Babies when they were in vogue. People were paying big bucks for them.

I dig what you're saying, but it's that way with anything in demand.

Things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them.

Yes respect and you make F2's to PRESERVE the genetics...NOT be greedy and try to make money off of it...LOL you can really tell the difference between people who LOVE our beloved plant and people who are just in it for the money..If you truly love it what does money matter

I like Welder Dan make f2's cause i love the variation in pheno's and love making F2's so I may keep the genes FOREVER

So far I have made or collected: Chemdog f2's, Og kush f2's, Johnny Blaze f2's, F-13 F2's
Willie Nelson F2's, C-99 f3's, Jack Herrer F2's, Geisha F2's, and Casey jones f2's these are just a few in my collection

Make f2's and spread them around don't be GREEDY

most growers just share seeds, that ive heard of or known of.

breeding is bit of a luck game (unless you got lots of space and time)

Some have done f2's or f3's and they get given as free b's but sd ibl and cd ibl aint allowed for obvious reasons.

I think when making f2's to put on seebay it's good practice to ask the original breeder if it's OK first. Sometimes they will OK it. But if they have put a lot of time and effort into a new strain it's probably more unlikely.

It's not a supply and demand issue.

It's an artificially manipulated market.

No different than telling harbor freight they can't sell wrenches and that everyone can only get their tools from Snap-On.
Don't know if you've priced Snap-On stuff, but it's f'n ridiculous. And I would guarantee that Snap-On would increase said prices if they were the only name in the game.
Some times, Snap-On is the best and only thing that will work. But, I would bet, 85%+ of the time, a Harbor Freight version will work.

I would love to sell a car to you guys. I would be asking $5000, and you would come up and say "$15,000.. take it or leave it!!!"
Half the people here have just told the product producers, you will pay ANYTHING for what they have to offer. As a seller, I would be licking my chops.. kinda like a... DOG.

Since you know so fucking much why don't you start your own site and run your how you see fit. I don't mind people giving some advice to store owners but for you to say all the stupid shit you did just proves you got no fucking clue!

i have to say since no one really breeds these days popping seeds is always a pheno hunt. i have yet to come across a true ibl or anything close. Most things are a cross and its is a 55 day and a 100 day youll get phenos ranging from 55 to 100+ days... your pheno hunting and thats how damn near all genetics are created today.

Well sure, most strains nowadays are polyhybrids. Variation is to be expected. When you F2 a polyhybrid, you get even more variation.

The market for F2's usually kicks in after a strain is no longer commercially available. C99, Apollo 11, DTC99 are all examples of strains that are no longer produced, but live on in F2's

I like F2's, but people tend to want the original if available.

Price is an issue for some people, and there is that segment of people that would buy an F2 over the original if the price is significantly cheaper. But by and large, people are willing to pay top $ for the original.

The value of anything lies in what people are willing to pay for it. That may not seem fair, but that is the reality of it.

That's why fritillary seed did things in reverse  :D

Spicy Cheese F1 was initially sent out as a freebie to growers and breeders,, then Spicy Cheese F2 was sent to seedbay . More recently Spicy Cheese F1 has finally been sent to seedboutique.
