Where you Taking

Have i said too much. All you'll have to do is look at me

-
All of Me
John Legend
What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright
My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine
You're crazy and I'm out of my mind
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you, oh oh
How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you're crying you're beautiful too
The world…
-
Don't Cry For Me Argentina
Sinéad O'Connor
It won't be easy
You'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love
After all that I've done
You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl
You once knew
Although she's dressed up
To the nines
At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen
I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life
Down at heel
Looking out of the window
Staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom
Running around trying
Everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it too
Don't cry for me argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune
And as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world
They were…

The Rolling Stones

‘Salt of the Earth’ (*From the 'Beggars' Banquet' lp)

Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the lowly of birth
Raise your glass to the good and the evil
Let's drink to the salt of the earth
Say a prayer for the common foot soldier
Spare a thought for his back breaking work
Say a prayer for his wife and his children
Who burn the fires and who still till the earth
And when I search a faceless crowd
A swirling mass of gray and
Black and white
They don't look real to me
In fact, they look so strange
Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leading but get gamblers instead
Spare a thought for the stay-at-home voter
Empty eyes gaze at strange beauty shows
And a parade of the gray suited grafters
A choice of cancer or polio
And when I look in the faceless crowd
A swirling mass of grays and
Black and white
They don't look real to me
Or don't they look so strange
Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's think of the lowly of birth
Spare a thought for the rag taggy people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth
Let's drink to the hard working people
Let's drink to the salt of the earth
Let's drink to the two thousand million
Let's think of the humble of birth

<Acceptance, peace, sigh....>

Keane (English Band)- Nothing In My Way

A turning tide
Lovers at a great divide
Why d'you laugh
When I know that you hurt inside?

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

A tell-tale sign
You don't know where to draw the line

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

Well for a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time

For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time

I stopped by for some reading at the ‘I Hate Christmas’ thread the other day. Left me thinking about it, and some similar thoughts or feelings I have about what a friend in the bush calls ‘the silly season.’

I don’t hate Christmas, but like many, I can point to a handful of things I resent or dislike, and I can also see the joyful part about it being for kids.

Sometimes we lose the magic, and memories of things that can’t be gotten back leave a hole some place in us.

Maybe the holidays when folks came together was when the friction got aired, and there was anger or violence.

Maybe the commercialization has stolen the heartfelt warmth that once was there.

Maybe the separation from something like a true sense of community is made more apparent when there’s no one else by the fireplace or table to reflect on things with in a meaningful way.

Maybe the folks who would otherwise be there with a person are gone, passed on, or found their own river.

Joni’s song is one of the saddest Christmas tunes I know of.

The other night a gentleman performed a cover of it, singing in beautiful tenor, and I cried a bit. My wife will tell you I’m a sentimental fool; a marshmallow at heart.

There’ve been times for many folks they’ve wished they had a river to skate away on. .

Joni Mitchell

‘River’

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on

But it don't snow here
It stays pretty green
I'm going to make a lot of money
Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on

I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
I wish I had a river I could skate away on
I made my baby cry

He tried hard to help me
You know, he put me at ease
And he loved me so naughty
Made me weak in the knees
Oh, I wish I had a river I could skate away on

I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad
Now I've gone and lost the best baby
That I ever had
I wish I had a river I could skate away on

Oh, I wish I had a river so long
I would teach my feet to fly
I wish I had a river
I could skate away on
I made my baby say goodbye

It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees
They're putting up reindeer
And singing songs of joy and peace
Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on

‘Midnight Train to Georgia’

L.A. proved too much for the man
(Too much for the man, he couldn't make it)
So he's leaving a life he's come to know, ooh
(He said he's going)
He said he's going back to find
(Going back to find)
Ooh, what's left of his world
The world he left behind not so long ago

He's leaving
(Leaving)
On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah
(Leaving on the midnight train)
Said he's going back
(Going back to find)
To a simpler place and time, oh yes he is
(Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side)
I'll be with him
(I know you will)
On that midnight train to Georgia
(Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo)
I'd rather live in his world
(Live in his world)
Than live without him in mine
(Her world is his, his and hers alone)

He kept dreaming
(Dreaming)
Ooh, that some day he'd be a star
(A superstar, but he didn't get far)
But he sure found out the hard way
That dreams don't always come true, oh no, uh uh
(Dreams don't always come true, uh uh, no, uh uh)
So he pawned down his hopes
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
And even sold his old car
(Woo, woo, woo-woo)
Bought a one way ticket back to the life he once knew
Oh yes he did, he said he would

Oh-oh, he's leaving
(Leaving)
On that midnight train to Georgia, yeah
(Leaving on a midnight train)
Said he's going back to find, ooh
(Going back to find)
A simpler place and time, ooh, yeah
(Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side)
I'm gonna be with him
(I know you will)
On that midnight train to Georgia
(Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo)
I'd rather live in his world
(Live in his world)
Than live without him in mine
(Her world is his, his and hers alone)

Ooh, he's leaving
(Leaving)
On the midnight train to Georgia, yeah, ooh y'all
(Leaving on the midnight train)
Said he's going back to find
(Going back to find)
Ooh, a simpler place and time, ooh y'all, uh-huh
(Whenever he takes that ride, guess who's gonna be right by his side)
I've got to be with him
(I know you will)
On that midnight train to Georgia
(Leaving on a midnight train to Georgia, woo woo)
I'd rather live in his world
(Live in his world)
Than live without him in mine
(Her world is his, his and hers alone)

For love, gonna board the midnight train to ride
For love, gonna board, gotta board the midnight train to go
For love, gonna board, uh huh, the midnight train to go
My world, his world, our world, mine and his alone
My world, his world, our world, mine and his alone
I got to go
I got to go
I got to go, hey
I got to go
I got to go
My world, his world, my man, his girl
I got to go
I got to go, oh
I got to go
My world, his world, our world, his girl

Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath

Alright now
Won't you listen?
When I first met you, didn't realize
I can't forget you, for your surprise
You introduced me, to my mind
And left me wanting, you and your kind, oh yeah
I love you, oh you know it
My life was empty, forever on a down
Until you took me, showed me around
My life is free now, my life is clear
I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear, oh yeah
Come on now, try it out
Straight people don't know, what you're about
They put you down and shut you out
You gave to me a new belief
And soon the world will love you sweet leaf, oh yeah baby
Come on now, oh yeah
Try me out baby, alright, oh yeah
I want you part of this sweet leaf, oh yeah
Alright, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh try me out
I love you sweet leaf, oh

Me llaman en el barrio
Bailo mas que un flan
Con mis temitas en al radio
Vestio de hawayano
Con los rulos puestos
Anillacos de oro, quillo!
Voy to´ traspuesto
Las niñas me huyen
Salen corriendo
Asustaitas las tengo
Pero a mi que mas me da
Soy asexual no miento
Soy honesto
Siempre digo la verdad

Al rollo del cogollo(x4)

Con mi pedazo de peluca afro
Voy pegando el cantazo
Y si hay mal rollito
Pego este grito......ILLO!
Y aparecen quince grotescos

Poniendo huevos verdes curanderos
Huevos Hemp- Cañamo- Marigüanero
Yo soy un pollo sincero de donde crecen las plantas
Y me gusta el hachis afgano, marroquí, de Nepal...uh!

You Know Like I know

to take a look and walk away
isn't a stand man
to speak the words that everyone's heard
isn't the way man
everybody knows
all things must come and go
but
you know like I know that
everything's gonna be alright
people just come and go
they don't know what's right
till they're gone

your sun will rise and set today
just don't you worry
and everything will come your way
just don't you hurry
take a little time
and find you some peace of mind
then
you'll know like I know that
everything's gonna be alright
people just come and go
they don't know what's right

Dre Dog - Jim Jones Posse

Radio dial searching the wicked tune.....
(Btw sounds samples of :
Rbl Posse - Sorta like Psycho
Spice 1 - 187 Proof
Mac Dre feat. Coolio Da Unda Dogg - California Livin')

Heheh
Yeah
C-Sinister, T-Cee
I'm ready to rock it

Fuck an intro
Here come a dog from the Fillmoe
Jim Jones of vinyl
Hitler of Frisco
Niggas can't understand how I rolls
Cause I wear dirty clothes and my hair ain't combed

But I'm Dre Dog
I lock and shake
Strike like a snake
Imma Reverend of hate
But some fools thought I was triple six
But I'm triple sick, and a red-nosed pit
So why would you think I'm the devil's kin?
I got teeth that'll penetrate nothin' but skin
And about Dre Dog, yeah, you know nothin
Fingernails will carve ya face like a pumpkin
And if you swing, fool, you better not miss
I got lyrics that'll start a fuckin' exorcist
Cause I was born to catch and kill
And watch niggas burn like the Oakland hills

Who wanna hear Dre Dog get wicked?
(The Niggas in the Jim Jones Posse!)
Who wanna hear Dre Dog get wicked?
(The Niggas in the Jim Jones Posse!)

Ooh, I say praise the Lord
Jim Jones just gotta have more
From the sex to the money to the sex right back to the money
And I still dress bummy
Nappy hair makes a pony tail
Nike boots and long fingernails
Fat lips and smooth goatee
6'5" fool, nigga that's me
So like Aretha I want respect
Cause what you see, fool, is what you get
And what you see, yeah is knuckles that's brass
I want your cash, Imma woop your ass
Pitiful, yous a catholic
And I will beat a nigga with glasses
Lock and shake on his fuckin face
Break a knife off into his waste
Cut his foot off for luck, yeah just like a rabbit
Dre Dog gotta have it

Who wanna hear Dre Dog get wicked?
(The Niggas in the Jim Jones Posse!)
Who wanna hear Dre Dog get wicked?
(The Niggas in the Jim Jones Posse!)

Nigga I kick you in the face with my Nike boots
Who said that I wasn't 180 proof?
The reverend of hate got you by the roots, huh
Now nigga, who got juice?
And as you can see, I ain't heaven sent
24/7, I'm high or bent
Blowin blows in niggas face, cause I'm nothin polite
With a temper that the Devil wouldn't even like, so
Do me chewy as I sweep you with cocaine
My vocals bang, lyrics fall like acid rain
I bust a sweat, live and and cut throats
Buy cars, get hard, smoke dope!
Say Whatsup to Frisco's rudest
America's newest, Jim Jone's truest
Here's a smokin' reverend motha fucka
Thats out for the schemin'
A hip hop demon

From one of millions of peaceful, loving, insightful Muslims.

A tune that goes back to the earliest of the 1970s. Hitch-hiking the Alcan in the later mid-70s, ‘Miles from nowhere’ and at peace with that.

(Then) Cat Stevens.. Don’t remember the name he goes by now. He was at least temporarily banned from travel to the US after 9/11, despite being incredibly benign & peace-oriented.

Sometimes our fear is embarrassing..

This one calls for remembrance by way of a nice bowl of blonde brown hashish from Cali Indica, LSD, and Tijuana trichomes, and a good, albeit flat, beer from the last of the growler of American Amber by Glacier Brew House.

‘Miles From Nowhere’

Miles from nowhere
Guess I'll take my time
Oh yeah, to reach there

Look up at the mountain
I have to climb
Oh yeah, to reach there.

Lord my body has been a good friend
But I won't need it when I reach the end

Miles from nowhere
Guess I'll take my time
Oh yeah, to reach there

I creep through the valleys
And I grope through the woods
'cause I know when I find it my honey
It's gonna make me feel good

I love everything
So don't it make you feel sad
'cause I'll drink to you, my baby
I'll drink to that, I'll drink to that.

Miles from nowhere
Not a soul in sight
Oh yeah, but it's alright

I have my freedom
I can make my own rules
Oh yeah, the ones that I choose

Lord my body has been a good friend
But I won't need it when I reach the end

Miles from nowhere
Guess I'll take my time
Oh yeah, to reach there

There's a southern accent, where I come from
The young 'uns call it country
The yankees call it dumb
I got my own way of talkin'
But everything gets done, with a southern accent
Where I come from
Now that drunk tank in Atlanta's
Just a motel room to me
Think I might go work Orlando
If them orange groves don't freeze
I got my own way of workin'
But everything is run, with a southern accent
Where I come from --
For just a minute there I was dreaming
For just a minute it was all so real
For just a minute she was standing there, with me
There's a dream I keep having
Where my mama comes to me
And kneels down over by the window
And says a prayer for me
Got my own way of prayin'
But everyone's begun
With a southern accent
Where I come from --
I got my own way of livin'
But everything gets done
With a southern accent
Where I come from

excellent tune, I've long stated that the last thing you should assume when hearing a southern accent is that the person is dimwitted, you'll get schooled quickly if you do.......

Don't Pray on Me
Bad Religion

A grizzly scene on my electron beam
Told a story about human rights
So all of Kings horses and all of Kings men
Had a riot for two days and nights
Well, the city exploded but the gates wouldn't open
So the company asked him to quit
Now everybody's equal
Just don't measure it
Well Hanson did it hester
And Mark David did it to John
And maybe Jack dit it to Marilyn
But he did it to South Vietnam
For beauty and glory
For money, love and country
Now everybody's doing it,
Don't do that to me
A bitter debate and a feminine fate
Fly in tandem like two precious babes
While the former gets warmer it's the latter that matters
Except on the nation's airwaves
And custodians of public opinion stay back after vainly discussing her rights
Lay hands off her body
It's not your fucking life
Now I don't know what stopped Jesus Christ
From turning every hungry stone into bread
And I don't remember hearing how Moses reacted
When the innocent first born sons lay dead
Well I guess God was a lot more demonstrative
Back when he Flamboyantly parted the sea
Now everybody's praying
Don't prey on me

Hey sit down and listen and they'll tell you when you're wrong
Eradicate but vindicate as progress creeps along
Puritan work ethic maintains its subconscious edge
As Old Glory maintains you consciousness
There's a loser in the house and a puppet on a stool
And a crowded way of life and a black reflecting pool
And as the people bend the moral fabric dies
Then the country can't pretend to ignore its people's cries
Cause you are the government
You are jurisprudence
You are the volition
You are jurisdiction
And I make a difference too

‘Your Flag Decal Won’t Get You Into Heaven Anymore’

While digesting Reader's Digest
In the back of a dirty book store,
A plastic flag, with gum on the back,
Fell out on the floor.
Well, I picked it up and I ran outside
Slapped it on my window shield,
And if I could see old Betsy Ross
I'd tell her how good I feel.

But your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.

Well, I went to the bank this morning
And the cashier said to me,
"If you join the Christmas club
We'll give you ten of them flags for free."
Well, I didn't mess around a bit
I took him up on what he said.
And I stuck them stickers all over my car
And one on my wife's forehead.

But your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
They're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.

Well, I got my window so covered
With flags, that I could not see.
So, I ran the car upside a curb
And right into a tree.
By the time they got a doctor down
I was already dead.
And I'll never understand why the man
Standing in the Pearly Gates said...

"Son,

But your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more.
We're already overcrowded
From your dirty little war.
Now Jesus don't like killin'
No matter what the reason's for,
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more."

‘Take the Star out of the Window’

Robert was a sailor
For the best years of his life
His captain was his mother
And the ocean was his wife
Only fresh out of the cradle
Life's one and only spring
He was sworn to do his duty
And got blood on his high school ring

And it's hello California
Hello Dad and Mom
Ship ahoy
Your baby boy
Is home from Vietnam
Don't you ask me any questions
'Bout the medals on my chest
Take the star out of the window
And let my conscience take a rest

Now he sailed across the ocean
To the old far eastern war
And it was foreign to his body
It was foreign to his shore
So he traded in the present
For the better times he'd seen
And made an oriental waitress
His own home comin' queen

And it's hello California
Hello Dad and Mom
Ship ahoy
Your baby boy
Is home from Vietnam
Don't you ask me any questions
'Bout the medals on my chest
Take the star out of the window
And let my conscience take a rest
