'Deliverance', was a tossup between that &
'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' tonight.
I love having my flix on DVD so I can run the
banjo scene an extra time or two. good stuff.
Here's an interesting bit of movie trivia, Burt
Reynolds was up for the part of RP McMurphy
in Cuckoo's Nest a role he read for and knew
would make his acting career complete even
back in '75 he knew it would be his finest role.
Jack Nicholson of course got the part which imo
was his finest work Academy Award(s) & all.
Reynolds was so infuriated thinking (being told?)
that he had the part that he never went to see
the movie and as far as I know hasn't ever yet.
EDIT:
Of course the banjo kid wasn't really retarded or
inbred but they chose someone who fit the part.
Billy Redden
'My Life as a Turkey' about a man who raised wild turkeys.
awesome show, raised from the moment of hatching he learned the meaning of their language and his daily life in the woods w/them allowed him access to all sorts of encounters with other animals.
