I did this last year with a few buds and it worked okay. If you don't have anywhere to hang dry fresh plants that reek, it can be useful. Makes a real pure oil, since most of the contaminants are removed already. Smell is gone, taste is smooth, but pretty much gone. If you like the idea, go for it.
