Next time I cross the border I'm going to carry my crap laptop and PGP encrypt a few thousand txt files and jpg's.

Let em spend a few weeks hacking on those only to find out it's recipes and PD clip art.

This is very important, specially regarding digital pics of grows etc...Never really thought about this one, but a great example of something similar was a computer found in Norway last week that led to an arrest in the US of a child molester. Great info in this thread..travelling overseas is getting trickier and trickier, with the "vacuum sniffer" machines now at airports and all...geez

This one is quite helpful and urgent in nature, so I disagree with your rants. Why post twice if all you're going to do is bitch? This is the security forum...get a life..

Well Jack, I do actually think it's an important issue, but resent the thread title.

Why do we have to put up with crap like this?

I know there are many useless threads, but mostly in the Toker's Den, which to me is acceptable, as I only venture there very occasionally.

I think growing security is a serious issue, and you may have read some of my threads/posts.

However, I don't appreciate someone telling me something is urgently important, and it can't wait......and was posted online 3 weeks ago! lol

In fact, I've only taken a computer across a border once, and it was clean, as I don't trust customs not to find compromising info, so in fact, it's not so important to me, as I wouldn't be so carefree with sensitive data anyway, and if I needed to carry any across a border, I'd make sure it was highly encrypted.

The government pries into the lives of every citizen so much because they don't want the citizens to be curious as to what dirty secrets politicians have. They are megalomaniacs with a laundry list of scandals, schemes, and skeletons in their closet(skull and bones COUGH COUGH COUGH). I just read prisonplanet and infowars everyday to see what the next new plot is to destroy more of our freedoms and liberties. This country is already screwed and it'll just become more of a police state. Keep everything as private and discreet as possible. Martial law is the law of the land now and it's better to do something about it now than get more and more used to it. Call your congressmen and senators, let them know you are pissed about what's happening. Otherwise everyone will just be raped of more freedom.

Hey BB I don't see any threat in this thread at all. Only a complete asshole would travel around with a computer full of incriminating evidence detailing their grow to begin with. Sure it would suck if the Feds took my laptop just because I'd might lose all my lesbo porn!

To me it would be more relevant if the story was about the pigs just going through your files during a traffic stop.

Understand your gripe, I myself prefer that a poster would describe better his thread by the title, but like I was to you, I believe you were a bit harsh on him and didn't even comment on the issue at hand...There are better ways to make your point and contribute at the same time, and I myself failed by coming off like a dick to you, sorry.

I guess I like the thread and I can agree that the title is misleading or very vague at best.

Yes. Only a complete asshole would have his grow pics on his computer and go to a place of heightened security, like.... say..... an airport. Common sense alone should dictate that.

Let us remember what country we are talking about here. America where the govt. likes to make us feel indebted from saving us from hell. Yet they put us through it in return.

Sure it's a privacy violation. But if you look at the big picture it's just the tip of the fucking iceberg. Our rights are constantly under erosion.

Just like the govt says we've protected you, there hasn't been a terrorist attack since 9/11.... What about the anthrax? Why is that still unsolved? Especially since the anthrax came from a US military base. It's all a sham folks. The mountain of bullshit has piled up for too long and we're soon to see the avalanche.
