I believe Gypsy posted that the EXIF data was stripped from pics uploaded to IC.

///EDIT/// I am not able to find that post, if someone from IC could confirm or deny this it would be great.

YES M.C i also have read those tread more than one time.
But if you have GPS in something-it also can be turn off..

FWIW, I wouldn't rely on anyone to remove this data for me upon upload.

Removing exif data is very easy, and should be a habit.

WARNING: Don't buy an iphone
My iPhone 4 rocks and love it. I just don't use it for certain things. I'm in a friendly state but still don't get carried away.

I've heard tales of people being arrested for child porn for pictures of their kids in the bathtub.
Things are getting a bit out of hand.

fuck iPhones.

even if ya dont take a pic, its still logging your GPS data every single minute of every single day. fuck that noise I dont need no LEO data mining my exact location for the past years.

This is what you would see. There's nothing in my EXIF data that would lead anyone to my front door. My DSLR has more menu's like GPS but there empty. Nikon DSLR need a optional reciver for that to work.

Photobucket is your friend. Tons of privacy options, and you can easily erase exif/meta data.

I also noticed someone mention scroogle. You might be interested in https://encrypted.google.com/

;)

then they just go through the IP that you posted the pix from.....

most sites log IP, ICmag doesn't (afaik).

and lol to whoever found my post unhelpful, go ahead, give em that treasure trove of data

I guess it's just a question of time some "genius" taking a pic of something incriminating, modifying the exif data (GPS) to someone elses (location) and post it publicly.

Busted!
and/or @ least a lot of questions asked and no more flying under the radar.

Not just iphones bro.

My Canon does the same thing. Most new snazzy cameras leave something called exif data. It can include everything from model and serial number to GPS data.

Anyone uploading pics to this site should be removing all exif data from their pics.

:tiphat:

go look in my profile. see any weed pics? nope. the best way to keep pics from getting you in trouble is by not having any. I keep no records of my grows. All though my grow is small I still realize the fascist federal government does not care. They even sent Eddy Lepp to jail, he is a non-violent man. A vet, a cancer survivor, and was a caregiver to many people including his wife who died from cancer before they busted him and sentenced him to ten years in federal prison.

I want to thank everyone for their input but I think we are getting a little off topic. I am aware of exif data and have been removing it for 5 years now but this GPS sh*t is a whole new ball game. My digi cam does not have GPS so this is all new to me. I just want everyone with an iphone to be safe. I had no clue that ipics contain GPS data.
And thanks to NBC for informing everyone it exist.

win7 has an exif data removing option:

properties >> details >> remove properties and personal information >> tick the second round box and click select all, then OK and you are done.
works for more than one pic at a time also.

stay safe!

Just a couple little things I want to throw out there. George Orwell sure got it right with only some minor changes as to timing and methods.

Firstly, please be aware the piggys and spammers do monitor this sight and post misleading "truthiness" and disinformation.

Secondly, it has come to a point where disabling and protecting personal data makes YOU the target of suspicion and investigation. EVERY keystroke you ever made, every conversation you have by cell, has been recorded to be used when technology is developed to exploit it. But by hiding data you are becoming a minority and suspicious. So maybe it would be better to go ahead and post and talk, just give out misleading false information but still totally hide the realities.

I sure liked what Strainhunter said about the data being altered to be used as evidence against innocent people. WILL happen.

Call me paranoid, tin foil dude. Whatever. That only helps the assholes. Whose nuts here? :tiphat:
