To clean my glassware I pour a bit of common household rubbing alcohol in there and then add some KOSHER SALT, vigorously shake it for a min or two and empty. Glass is as clean as day bought doing it like that. I also make sure I rinse all the alcohol residue out real good with cold water. Cheap, simple, and effective

If your bong is made out of an oven, then use oven cleaner. If it's made out of glass, use Isopropyl Alcohol and salt like the above poster mentioned. You can even soak the piece in "Grunge Off Supersoaker" (black bottle with blue logo on the front, found at most head shops or online) overnight to remove extra tough grime/calcium buildup.

Here is a good question

Is it true if bong is wet and unwashed at some point it can be a habitat for microbes and viruses?? Such as hipatet B and other shit?

Bingo! Just some basic cheap ISO found in any grocery store and table salt in a Ziploc works wonders. Screw all those expensive commercial glass cleaners.

In theory, yes. If you are really worried about it clean your piece after each session. Or at the very least before you go to bed at night. There is nothing like waking up to clean glass in the morning.
I'm really into gardening from a microbial standpoint, so I think about microorganisms all the time, both undesirable and beneficial ones. I have definitely brought this issue up with friends of mine. It is entirely possible for a water pipe with burned plant tar that has a high rH to harbor mold spores or something of the like.
It really doesn't take that much extra effort to keep a piece spotless. Just treat it like a dish. It will taste better, and be more aesthetically pleasing for you and your guests. Don't know what to recommend, as I am not in the UK, and have heard ISO is hard to find there. I'm sure some folks on that side of the pond would know.

rice, iso & Dawn dish washer detergent (Dawn cuts grease/oils fast) & shake it up hard.

flush the rice in your toilet or discard into a can as it may clog narrower sink drains when it expands if you use your sink to dump it.

cold water rinse and crystal clean it'll be.

do you have hard water stains? you know opaque or frosty looking matter that you can't get out? You can use one of two methods for clearing those calcium deposits.

1) CLR (Calcium Lime Rust remover) ~ a caustic chemical that needs to be rinsed VERY thoroughly but is recommended for glass coffee pots so it can be used here. works in 5 mins.

Feel a bit funky using this stuff? then rinse with vinegar twice then follow up with a your cold water rinsing. very safe just rinse properly.

~OR~

2) fill your bong with straight tomato juice & leave it over night. by morning the acid in the juice will strip hard water stains clean. very safe non toxic for anyone paranoid of chems.

BOTH the CLR & tomato juice method are to be performed AFTER you do a regular thorough cleaning, these methods remove hard water stains only and will NOT cut through oily grime, do either one of these last.......
