Using old-growth forest soil as humus source in teas?

Just by-the-by CC, who sells that awesome sounding compost? I have friends still in pdx that buy castings from the east coast.

Just a little side-note for ya CH.

I would highly suggest that you let your worms work your compost for a month or two and just use the EWC/vermicompost. If you decide to use your compost, test it out on a plant or two first. I fucked up an entire cycle, 1/2 my usual yield, because I used my backyard compost. CC straightened me out and told me just to let the worms work it. Everything has been gravy since.

A good place to find micros is wrapped around the base of shrubs that are growing in the water path, where the water sweeps up the leaves and they stick around the base and decompose, that's a hot spot of diversity right there, you will notice the difference in your ACT's, trust me.

Empirical evidence?

Only evidence i got is the sweet weed i grow, not even a picture, simply what i type, this is what is wrong with the world today everyone is a specialist and common cents ent that common no more.

Fortunately for the world they are people like me that don't sit on my ass and wait for some professor dude in a lab to tell me what to do, i try out shit and if that shit works i tell other people so they could try my shit that works too!, they don't have to acknowledge that shit came from me they don't even have to say thank you. I worked in a lab and trust me the conditions and results that come from a lab are very "man made" too man made for a farmer (a good guide in the general direction though) I got really tired of lab coats and lab talk and those fucking glasses fucked up my eyes, so now i smoke weed and grow weed now, it either works for the plants or it don't i dont got to know why either i ent in a lab no more i am a farmer now.

Now i hope you are stupid enough to follow my stupid reasoning, we are trying to extract micros, if you cant ascertain what is meant by micros your in the wrong place Bub.

1 simple question for you Microcosmic God, Tell me, don't you think the amount of biological life would be higher in certain spots in nature? Do you even go outside, in actual nature and see the cumulative effort of all the micros or do you just look at two individuals through your microscope and think that's enough, to get the whole picture, or that you can even understand the whole picture, no Bub the big picture is bigger that both of us.

Anyhows

Dude when your walking in the forest if you notice a water path and debri is washed up and wrapped around a tree trunk, it stands to reason since it was accumulated from god knows how far (not god of this forum, JAH almighty is to whom i refer) and it brakes down so fast, we can use our deductive reasoning and conclud that these areas have higher micro counts, earth worms also gather here and you can find lots of castings in there too!

All in all its good for your tea, try it out and tell me about the improvement.

And to you Microbeman any Empirical evidence to prove me wrong?

Baja;

I can't blame your for your attitude. It is quite apparent that you do not know my history as others do. My learning originated in the forest and was taken into my lab. My lab is not similar to typical labs. I also had a garden, probably larger than most for quite a number of years wherein I put to effect what was learned in the forest, fields and lab.

You stated some specifics regarding location of microorganisms (I believe). Not only did you not specify the types of microbes you are speaking of but offered no evidence whatsoever to support your claim. You sounded so sure of yourself by saying 'trust me' which led me to ask what empirical evidence you have to support your claim related to microbial density.

Of course there are varying densities of microorganisms distributed through the soil and these can change daily and hourly (Clarholm et al; Protozoa and Other Protista in Soil; Modern Soil Microbiology; for one)

I encourage people who feel compelled to pass on 'specific knowledge' to have more foundation than 'my plants are real good man'.

Whatever.

You still ent say why it would not help in an ACT. Or if its a hindrance.

Baja, the way I read it, he's just asking for some evidence to support your claims. Your mention of stuff decomposing so much more quickly in the areas you describe would be empirical evidence of your claims. Side-by-sides (more and other plants besides cannabis in my world) are also helpful in absence of the years of study someone like Mm has done.

I am a big believer in empirical evidence, as it's based on observation which is the basis for all scientific thought and methodology.

I personally think that the idea of microbes having evolved for an indoor environment is... a bit on the silly side. But then again, we can certainly engineer such an organism, we have the technology to do so. Not that I'd agree with it, but there ya go. Everything we use has come from somewhere else, and a good goal would be to close the loop so as to be as efficient as possible. Much easier said than done nowadays, I suppose.

There's nothing personal about Mm's query or response.

Been a while since i was in a room full of people. lol MM sure got a nice rant from me, lol, funny shit. All is fair in science though......

It also make a big difference if you take leaves that are damp, dry leaves don't work nearly as well.
