Just for anyone who happens by here.....this WAS an overdose of GroTek Silica. I flushed, the plants recovered except where there was the above pictured damage. Go light on the silica, the plants don't need a lot of it.

Have always used silica, and never had that problem. I've even gone well beyond the "recommended" dosage to protect plants against broad mite damage, and never had a problem. Could it be that you got a bad batch somehow?
How much were you using?
Well, I posted a bunch of pictures and 3 others came forward with the exact same issue. Everyone WAS using the GroTek Silica so there's the link. I thought I was using 2ml per gallon, but in a smoke haze I might have messed up and used too much in 1 watering session. After a flush, things got better. A bad batch of the GroTek product IS entirely possible. I've stopped using it for now........I'll probably switch back to another vendor silica too- in all my years, I never had a problem until using this for the 1st time.
