Westlands organic tomato planter........best compost I've ever used.
I've used homemade organic blends along with soil recycling for many years. I've tried all sorts of different amendments at various levels with plenty of success.
I've tried the highly rated Westland compost 'west+' but the weed tastes shit.
Westland organic tomato planters have an identical texture to the west+ and produce far superior tasting herb.
The beauty of it is you don't need any perlite etc, you just open the bag and chuck the soil in the pot. Simple. When it comes to disposing of the compost you can just chuck it on the garden or compost heap and there's no unsightly perlite or vemiculite. It really couldn't be more convenient.

I've gone back tp B&Q multi purpose (without JI), and quite glad I did.. Always use their cutting & seedling compost for first pots, but have been using Plagron for far to long in final pots. Having to pay for that shit (no pun intended) has just become a nonsence, so back to the multi purpose, mixed with 20% perlite and all's well. No need to feed for up to 3 weeks and then it's straight in with Bio vega & then Flores.
@ under £4 for 75 litres it's got my vote (again!)

In the past I've used that Wilko's cheap compost with their Vermiculite and ammended it with calcified seaweed and blood, fish and bone and it works fine, but adding worm castings is better, just wish worm dcastings were more commonly available in the UK, it always annoyed me that I could get almost everything I needed at Wilkos and other cheap shops but still had to shell out a wad for worm casts.

I found a new source of cheap coco that should be readily available as it's by Gardman and many places carry Gardman products, it's a big 4 kilo block of coarse grade coco intended as a mulch, expands to 65 litres and cost me 4.99, bargain. Reason I really like it is the coarse grade, I am gonna use it to mix with my fine grade coco instead of vermiculite.

60 ltr Westland Grow Bags are £4 quid at b & q, ive been using these for about 6 months now, they are great, dont need mixing with anythin else and have plenty of nutes for about 5 week veg.

Ive used the normal westland 72ltr bags ( £8 ) and this seems to be the same however its cheaper))))))))))

just my pennys worth my freinds do a lot of autos and normal strains and they swear by
B and Q s seedling and cuttings soil its so light and fluffy mixed with perlit it works good for roots plus its light in food you can add or as little as you like when come to feeding plus my freinds have tryed all the main uk garden centres wasted money on other products this works great for them couple of quid a bag cant go wrong its works even better for autos

i also think over priced specialist 'cannabis soils' from grow shops are over rated and over priced...my first grow i bought a bag think it cost 16 quid from a grow place and ran out so went to lidls and bought 1 bag of there compost whatever it was called it only cost a quid or quid and a half?? but anyway i was using the black square 11 litre pots and just say the last 3or 4??? were filled with the lidls stuff and one only a 3rd filled!! all the plants ended up same height and going by sight seem bud mass--whats more even the 3 rd filled pot of the lidls was the same....i think most soil is wasted anyway in large pots ......

I steer well clear of the B&Q/homebase soil which is stored outside for months on end.
I've had all kinds of critters in those soils,although the west+ used to be very good if you can find it just delivered.

I too am using westlands jacks magic, its alright. I've not had any bugs or pH problems with it & my plants seem to like it. No perlite in my pots as the jacks magic seems quite airy & spongy. Almost like coco in texture but its 95% peat with added calcified seaweed.

No idea what the npk value or soil pH is out of the bag as it doesn't say on the packaging but is working well with plant magic old timer nutes.

Is anyone else using this soil?

Just in normal gardening and everything does well and generally happy. Agreed, always has the same consistency.
