Tyre Nichols vs Rodney King cases

it took less than 3 weeks for administrators in Memphis to decide "fuck THIS noise!" and fire AND charge 5 Black officers for beating Tyre Nichols (also Black) to death. it took over a YEAR for the split decision in the Rodney King case, and the LEO union fought for their (white) guys all the way. ask yourself this - would the Memphis 5 still have their jobs if they had been white, and all of the right-wing voices screaming "he should have complied!" and how loud would the screaming be if Nichols had been white? let's hear your opinions...

From what I have read the officers were hired after the 202 riots and the defund the police. They had to lower the hiring standards. But 3 of the five are associated with gangs and there was evidence of past beatings they recorded on their phones as proof of taking out the gang hits.

We are investigating a tip that 3 of the 5 officers in the Memphis PD beating of Tyre Nichols were members of the Vice Lords gang and under their direction.

Other gang directed beatings were reportedly found on their phones.

Recordings as proof of carrying out the beating.

Police need higher standards.

A 2 year associates degree in criminal justice should be mandatory to become a police officer.

Having people go to a 6 month 'Academy" to become a cop is the problem. Six months isn't long enough time to hand a gun to somebody who can take away your rights as a citizen.

around 25% of the people that WANT to be a police officer have axes to grind, IMHO, and can't wait to do so. bullied as kids, ignored by the opposite sex, thwarted at fulfilling any other dreams they had for whatever reason. power-hungry pieces of shit that pull stunts that make good officers look like shit, and the general public to largely distrust/despise LEO... the "good" officers manning the "thin blue line" are not helping, either. if they need disciplining, do that. if they need firing, do that. if they need jail time or a needle in their arm, GET ON WITH IT!
