Merry Saturday :tiphat:

Z2 beginning to build up an air-y bulk...

Not much sugar yet, tho'.
Her buds are fatter and airier than the larger, Z3.

Another update...

Another update...

Z2's getting bulkier, but not much taller...

And Z3's doing about the same...

Z2 is making the bulkier and airier buds so far,
and a little more cone-shaped...

Z2 left, Z3 right

Z2's pistols seem to spray out in a more haze-like fashion too.

They're both in their final 5 gal. pots.

saludos!

Looking good! I think we need Dubi's help, but you are probably correct in your assessments of which way they lean. I just repotted my Zamaldelicas in bigger pots. The one that looks more Zamal like to me is earthier when I smell it. If I rub the leaf petioles, I smell sweet mango and carrot. The GT leaning one has a more penetrating smell. They both smell like lemon menthol when I rub the stems. Keep up the good work so I can see what I hope mine will look like. Yours look healthier than mine.

Good Luck,

ThaiBliss

hi,
my opinion is that Z3 malawi leaning pheno and that musky earthy smell i have on my fem.Zamaldelicas , and the Zamal leaning is more sweety/carrot . and thaish expressions i can read just from destroyers whis is Meao dominant (or not?) may be spicy/sweety smell and slower buds with those thin leaves and brutal stretch (if enough space)...

nice buds, good luck

...for your perspective and comments.
It will be interesting to see how they progress.
They still haven't even begun to put sugar on yet,
so... still a few miles/km to go (with maybe more
revealing smells to come).

saludos! and have a great weekend

almost 9 weeks update

almost 9 weeks update

Z2 continues to grow larger buds than Z3

(Z2, left)

and seems to be finishing faster too

A sample of Z2 taken at 8 weeks gave a mildly euphoric
and uplifting buzz, with a sweet, lightly mango/carrot
taste though the vape. She may get a re-veg.

have a great w/end

saludos!

Very nice looking plants. You did a great job training them. I love to watch the Zamaldelica grows. It's such an interesting strain.

Z2 seems to be maturing very quickly. How much longer do you think she has left at this point?

Thanks for the drop-by and comments, H. :tiphat:
Most plants in this grow were topped four times,

(Z3 above)
...with the initial intent they would be bonzai mums.

They were 13 weeks from seed when soft-switched (3 wks. to get down to 11 hrs.)
to final flowering (they were flowered once before to ID sex, then re-vegged).

The 2 Zamalregs were in two-gal. smart pots when final flowered.
Switched to five-gal. smarties around 4-5 weeks later.
Also around this time the hps was bumped from a 600w system
to a 1000w.

Z2 seems to be maturing very quickly. How much longer do you think she has left at this point?

I switched them, at 8 wks. flo, to 10.5 hrs from 11 last weekend.
Combined w/ keeping temps in the low 70s seems to've hurried them up a bit.
This weekend they switch to 10 hrs and lower temps.
I like to pull 'em on the early side for a cleaner high.
Full moon coming next weekend.
All signs seem to point to a Novemberfest harvest
celebration over the next two weeks. :)

Some minor issues remain...
Z3 is the least furthest along of all plants.
As soon as I can get down to just a couple plants I'll reclaim the flower
room for vegging, and move the flowerers in-and-out
of a light-proof space for their remaining nights.

And tho' Z2's trich's are further along than any other plant,
she's still looking a little too dark green when seen in person.
She and Z3 got a big flush yesterday, so we'll how it goes.

all the best,
lf

I'm growing a Zamaldelica and -man- it looks VERY different. I went with the classic look - no topping or training. She's at close to 40 days of 12/12 and might very well still be stretching. Yikes! Plus her flowers are very small and sparse although there's a wee bit of bushy bulk toward the middle to to the bottom of the plant. I'm thinking about giving her the axe as I have other plants that could take up the valuable real-estate. OTOH, we've come this far together. I teeter. I'm thinking of switching to 13 hours of dark. See if she gets the hint. It could be that she's just a skinny-ass sativoid mutant.

Yours however, look delicious. Great job!

It would be a shame to give up on her after being patient for this long. She has to be near the end of the stretch so all that remains is the fun part where you watch her bud. :)

Mayan,

I took a sativa to 18 weeks before. It only finished with about a 1/2 ounce. I have not found another like it for almost a decade. At this point, I'd do it again for one joint. It was that good. Weed of that quality and potency will haunt you for the rest of your life, in a good way, like the first girl you ever loved.

Z2 comin' down...

Z2 comin' down...

I've been slowly harvesting Z2- a big branch a day,
with the intent of giving her a re-veg.

The sample I had earlier this week gave me a taste o' terror!
At my mid-section I got a very mild sensation like that of having
the wind knocked out of me.
And there was this trippy spaciness in the head and a mild body effect
that somehow seemed connected.

With her huge buds, tendency towards compactness, and fast
finishing time (9 wks) she's a candidate for Green and Purple
Haze x Thai F3 pollen.

(btw, I hope to send in all these crosses I'm doing with HazeThaiF3
pollen to the server fund)

When I sampled the taller Z3, the taste was much better,
but there was no high at all there; yet.
She needs more time in the oven.

Saludos

LowFalutin,

Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear that the high is terrorific and breathtaking. Do you like it that way? Sounds crazy. I'm excited to experience it myself.

Sorry I'm late with the reply, TB.
I was hoping I could get another photo taken before I did.
The other Zam's still gettin' her flowerin' on.

I've only had the one kinda damp pre-harvested sample of the harvested one,
and so can't make any serious conclusions yet.
Her buds were very large, but also very light and airy.
You gotta keep an eye on her while she's drying,
or she very well could dry out too fast.

Saludos!

Congrats LowFalutin :) you did a great job taming your tropical sativas indoors like bonsais

Harvesting early tropical sativas could be a bit dissapointing in terms of potency. Zamaldelica needs at least 11 weeks of flowering to fully develop her strenght and of course a right drying and curing process.

Z3 coming down

Z3 coming down

Thanks for stopping by gents-

TB- I'm sampling a bit of the harvested one now (Z2),
and it's not so terrorific now. A little more dense. Not really any motivation.
It's beginning to sound like the more "couch-locky" phenos of Malawi?

I sampled Z3 yesterday, and that was really nice- ecstaticly euphoric marching weed!
Yesterday, my plan was to try a sample and then start an up-potting
project. Z3 wouldn't have any of that, and instead wanted me to
go outside and climb a mountain- while grooving on the fall colors.

It's not racy per se, and certainly not paranoid, but there's a driving
forward energy to her that's, thankfully, also highly euphoric.

It reminded me of a really nice clear haze in some respects.
Super-tasty through the vape too.

Here she is

and one of her buds

She's spent the last ten days living off of 9 daily hours of window light
and will be coming down today (@ 11+ wks), with an intent to re-veg.
(my other Zamster moves back in re-veg effort priority)

dubi- thanks for your input.
Here's my jarred early-finishing Z2, sitting with her sister.

I actually let her go longer than I'd like, to give some time to lose her chlorophyl-
her trichs were already moving into amber. She was just a freaky fast-finisher.
(edit: both ZamalD's were flowered first to sex, then re-vegged before final flower)
Her taste is mostly earth now, little sweetness, through the vape.
More curing is on order- she hasn't even really finished drying yet.

I really like the other pheno, Z3, though and I'm going to try to re-veg
her for HzTi pollen and maybe S1'ing.
Thanks for sharing these fascinating genetics with us!

Saludos!

Hi LowFalutin :)

There are some Zamaldelicas expressions with a bit more of punch or heaviness from the malawis but they are overall very up clear and motivating like your Z3. Hope you are enjoying her after a bit of drying and curing, they look nicely developed and matured in your last pics. Well done! ;)

Thanks for the info, dubi.

A more complete smoke report in a few weeks, but they both tend
toward the unmotivating, one moreso than the other. They were
both fast finishers, tho'...

mini vape report

mini vape report

after more months in the jar/basement, my last bits of Zamaldelica have really cleared up their buzz, especially vaping at 180C/356F.

strong sativa high. can be a bit rushy for the first 30 mins., but settles into a triple espresso energy.
while I wouldn't call these 2 quicker-finishing phenos terrorific, they certainly qualify as at least yoga-unfriendly.

try giving your zamaldelica and other malawi crosses time for a longer cure.

saludos
