Top to canning jar popped off

I was putting my harvested buds into 1 qt. canning jars for the cure. I unscrewed the ring and the top popped off into the air about 4 feet. That scared the hell out of me. I think it was air pressure trapped inside the jar and I live in the Mile High City. Be careful everyone if you live at elevation. LOL I think.

Happens all the time here too (also a mile high).
Cause they were packed closer to sea level...

i wonder what that would have done for the cure itsel if you were to leave it in there. i mean of course you wouldnt do that but just sayin . . . what if?

During cure, there is microbial activity, and that often means CO2 or methane being produced. You've also got some water vapor, and at altitude, there you go. I don't guess a feller would want his face in the line uh far. -granger
