A road in St John’s, Newfoundland, was completely destroyed after storm Earl hit the region over the weekend, bringing more than 200 mm (7.9 inches) of rain and gusts of wind up to 90 miles per hour, footage recorded on September 12 shows.

Video recorded by Peter West shows a street in Kilbride, a neighborhood in St John’s, where the road crumbled after days of heavy rain. The pavement can be seen shattered to pieces, with water rushing underneath.

West told Storyful: “Hurricane Earl brought a little over 200 mm of rain and high winds to our area of Newfoundland, which caused a water main to break a couple of blocks from our street.”
