The Green Club (A Social Poker Club)

Hey All, :D

I've created a poker club for ICMaggers called The Green Club, and will be setting up a few free tournaments in the next month or so. This is online, so anyone can play. In the future, I'd love to see a yearly, LIVE, cannabis themed poker tournament.

Whether you're a cash table or tourney player, I'm open for discussions and love the game. Give a shout out if you're interested and I'll add you to the invite list. :D

The site I play on (and where the tournaments will be hosted) is smaller, the withdrawals are solid, they've been around for years. They don't care what country you're from, and all they require for an account is a valid email address.

Come join The Green Club
:tiphat:

The lack of responses is interesting...

As a member of the ICMag community, what comes to mind when you hear the word "Poker?" I'm seriously interested, so please share. :D

Gosh Douglas! My conditioning is a Presbyterian one where what you propose is Sinful.

Not that I care one whit for morality ... but having been turned away from gambling in early life I have never looked that way again.

As well, my Scots heritage hangs on ... and hangs on ... and altho I have spent most of my life in another country ... I cannot contemplate taking a chance with money!

Finally, I guess there's too much going on for me in other areas.

As long as you're asking that/what DC this is poker for me.

I played Texas Hold Em' for free play online. The game intrigues me a bit, but not that I'd like to gamble real bucks on.

When I play it's face to face: 5 card stud my #1, 7 card stud #2; and 5 card draw is my #3 favorite... BUT!!! it can be my #1 fav if dealing to 6 players, w/6 players there's a chance that near all cards be dealt. Same w/7 players & 7 card stud.

We only play for change, but my tin has $100+ in 5/10/25¢ and when I come home it's stuffed with bills ;)

Even w/the nickel dime games we play (some are 25/50¢) a shitty player can lose $40-50 or a bit more; that's the sucker... the guy that chases on every 5 or 7 card stud game, he never folds.....

oh yeah, NO wild card games.

And these games happen only 4 or 5 times a year that I'm invited to, one game (coming up soon) I sponsor @ my place; I consider the game to be the summer ending game (after Labor Day) when anyone & everyone still has some tourist season $$$$$ available.

There are some higher stakes games being played regularly, but not for me.

And a club of stoners from this site and on this site is safe via I believe a server out of the Netherlands. Going to a poker site would expose those players to exposure by leo simply requesting that info :dunno:

Yeah, that's kind of the responses I was expecting to hear.

It's a shame there's such a negative view of the game. Poker is not the degenerate past time you've been led to believe it is. lol You don't have to drive 2hrs to play poker with degenerates any more. Clean poker is available online.

Poker costs? How much do you spend on a movie and popcorn for "entertainment?" Do you go to concerts, pay for netflix, have a gaming subscription or pay "ANY" money for entertainment at all? Poker, for many people, is simply entertainment. It definitely gets my brain working in ways I appreciate. :D

"But it's addictive!" Uh, yeah... so is playing videogames, tennis, posting on icmag, growing cannabis and millions of other past times. You don't avoid shovels because it can cave in your head if used improperly. Right? lol If you're unaware of the issues causing your 'addictive behavior,' then perhaps staying away from gambling is a good idea. :D

This I don't get... there is no request for info here. If you want to connect and play it's your own deal. I have nothing to do with the site and am only a player.

No, but certain connotations may exist, maybe some people wondering as to who 'The Green Club' members might be, idk :dunno: And where the site is hosted from, means a lot to me. When I go to a site hosted in the USA I know damned well that I have forsaken my privacy by virtue of the current laws here.

And perhaps finally, if I like I can drive the 23 short country miles and join the weekly Texas Hold 'Em tourney @ one of our local Indian Casino's. $25 buy in w/100% payback, the casino keeps the pot right, and the game moving along briskly. @ the end by way of being timed the dealer will tally up everyone's chips and declare 1st & 2nd place; 75% for 1st & 25% for 2nd. I've seen guys walk away w/$400 or more.

But me??? I'm only in a casino for 2 reasons. An exceptional buffet & maybe some blackjack :)

I'm just a 'live table' type of player DC, & perhaps a bit paranoid of hosting sites.

It's actually a bit more secure than icmag, being hosted from a bitcoin neutral location. Also not requiring any information other than an email address.

I completely understand your view from a security stand point. Everyone should be fully aware of their own security needs and measures.

The club here on icmag, is for discussions here on icmag. The poker site is where I would host the tournaments. Interaction with others on the poker site is up to each individual, and I actually recommend staying out of the chat box. lol :)

If there's no interest, then there will be no tournaments. Simple enough. :D

Sent you an invite :D Congrats on taking the plunge!

One main consideration most people have is cost. I'm not positive, since I have not searched exhaustively, but I'm fairly sure Seals With Clubs has the least expensive tables.

The two lowest no limit tables are .02/.04, and .10/.20 "Micro Tables". These tables also are 'no-rake,' which makes them even more economical for entertainment purposes. This is 'per chip,' and not 1 penny, 2 penny tables.

Each chip is about a penny right now, so what's .02 of 1 penny USD? :D

4 cents, and 20 cents will seat you down at the max buy in rate for these tables. A single dollar can go a long way on a weekend, depending on your skill level. :D The cost of popcorn and a movie is worth quite a few tournament entries.

New to poker? That's ok, but I seriously recommend at least a minimal education before depositing even a single dollar. Since poker has gone online, and the world population of players has risen dramatically, an amazing amount of new information has been published.

The play styles, due to all of these books, forums, videos and such, has changed dramatically online. The environment is generally much tougher than live games of the same monetary level. Education is your best friend, and it is now readily available. Combining an education on poker with online practice play, you can boost your skill level between games. As your skill increases, you will become the stronger "winning player" in your casual live games.

Emotional control issues? Whether life or poker based, Jared Tendler breaks down why emotions appear. What's more, he identifies a structured method of discovering the source and removing the issue. Controlling your emotions is an essential key to retaining your winnings. ;) Controlling your emotions is also the key to many aspects of life. What you learn from this book will definitely spill out into your non-poker life, and in a good way. :D

If you've never opened a poker book and only seen poker in the movies, pick up a basic poker guide. You can look up the rules online in many places, and there are tutorials galore. Poker for dummies might even be helpful.

Have a basic understanding of the game? I recommend "Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'Em" as a strong foundational education. Great starting book.

Whatever your motivation and reasons, I look forward to your enjoyment of poker for a lifetime.

Sorry Doug. I'm out. Between working 10 - 12 hours a day plus the garden, plus renovating a house that's 2 years older than me, I just dont have time.

A lot of sites have easy deposit schemes. But try to cash out and they go all anti money laundering on you. Proof of I.d. passport copies etc.
Having said that, if its tourney based, and if you check out the withdrawal rules and are happy with them, then I'll take a little cash off ya Douglas.

Totally understand. :) Keep the thought around, life changes constantly and you may find some time. There are quite a few players who only get 15-30 minutes, 2-3 times a week. It may have been un-cool to stay less than an hour at tables, but that's not the case online. :)

Completely understand, and 100% reliable withdrawals is the main reason I play at SWC. They've been around longer than I've been playing poker online, and they went through their stability issues long ago.

Be glad to see you there. :tiphat:

Thank you for sharing your platform. I would like to join any poker tournaments you have.
Update: It seems like both links were provided by you, Douglas.Curtis is not working. Can you please update the links? I'm looking for a good place to play tournaments because I'm tired of playing on the pokerstars site. Usually, I play casino games like video slots or roulette in live rooms. If any of you like playing at the online casino, I suggest you visit https://onlinecasinobuddy.com/casino/nomini-casino-review/ site and read the reviews about the most reliable online casinos.
