............ I'm intimately understanding of the workings of this country... My country..

That's interesting, your connection to the world of entertainment.

I grew up in Baltimore and got to know several people who later became very successful in the industry.

Two of these peeps were Black.

One was my lifelong good friend, the stage actress Trazana Beverly, we bonded over our shared experience of discrimination at the age of 13 in Middle school and later High School.

Trazana came from a large supportive intact family, her Mother was a teacher and her Father owned a grocery store in the Black neighborhood they lived in.

Her parents insisted that she attend 'the best public school in the city' even though it was 95% White Jewish kids.

When we graduated from our all girls public High School I asked her what she wanted to do and was shocked when she replied "be an opera singer or a stage actress" as both professions at that time were mostly closed to Blacks, especially Black women who were not that attractive.

Well Trazana moved to NYC, studied and worked hard, exercised and made herself pretty and later went on to become the 1st Black person to win a Tony award and is still going strong as of today, a truely beautiful and self-actualized human being.

Trazana had an understanding of the world and how it worked.

The other pre-fame Black actor I knew was Tupak Shakur. My best friend and roomie at that time was Tupak's Baltimore School for the Arts English/Drama teacher and she frequently had her students over to the house for drama club, where I was able to observe and get to know him (sweet, smart, nice and wildly talented teen).

Tupak came from a broken home, lived in a rough, Black 'hood and his Mom did bad drugs.

They later moved, Tupak embraced Gangsta' Culture, became a Rapper and quickly succumbed to the lifestyle.

Tupak also had a certain understanding of the world and how it worked and lived out his Manifest Destiny as he understood it, as did Trazana.

....... oh yeah, one other thing, HOVAH will appreciate this part, Trazana came back to visit one time in Spr. of '67 and persuaded a reluctant me to attend a packed venue at The Famous Ballroom where I got to see John Coltrane perform his last gig ever, one of only 3 White women in the audience.

The an effort to prevent scope creep of this thread id like to restate its main purpose.

1. To bring light to the absurdity of California's racial discrimination within the cannabis industry. This does not mean create a black utopia for african americans only in California, its simply means fair distribution to black americans at every level of this industry..

2. To bring to light that California's cannabis industry is a microcosm of a more acute systemic racial problem that persist inside every industry in California.

Ive experienced it first hand within IBEW while working in California..Its a relic of the past that stifles growth, progress and prosperity for all of california.

In growers terms: If I plant 200 sites in the same location, but I only water, feed and protect 20 sites while leaving the other 180 sites to fend for themselves...
At the end of the season can I expect to receive a maximum yield from each of the 200 sites?
This is the absurdity that Californias racist governmental and business practices produce. less than maximum.

If you can eliminate emotion and just think about this situation from a mathematical perspective you would see that 99.99999 of us are in the same boat. I know a lot of people of every color that would love to get licensed and have a legal cannabis based business. Every single person I know that has grown or sold cannabis for a living in the medical market, and previously the black market, wants one. We all want one dude. It would be so nice. We should just be able to apply and be approved just like any other business that provides services to adults over the age of 21.

I feel where you're coming from with you're frustration brother. There is clear discrimination but it's not white against black. It's also white against white. The people that make the rules that hold us down and don't allow us to participate in the competition hate us all equally. They know we'll win Hovah. That's why they won't let us play the game. Guess how many people I know that have a permit or license of any kind??? One person that I haven't even seen for 15 years. He's a trust fund kid that was born rich. His parents gave him money to start his first business 25+ years ago, shortly after he got his worthless bachelor's degree at the young age of 22. He found out soon after that selling weed was much more lucrative than most products, so he went that route. Since he started with huge amounts of money he could buy in bulk to maximize profits even more. This meant dealing with big time black market operations and eventually he became Mr. Big. When it came time for legalization and licensing he had enough money to get something started. He bought a building three and a half hours from where we live and hired a bunch of people to cultivate cannabis and make him even more rich. He's the .0001 percent.

On the topic of reparations, I do believe a re evaluation would be of great benefit to you. I know you are suffering as so many of us do from time to time. Keep in mind I love you man, and all of the white folks I spend my time with do as well. Why should we work against our will for you bro? Isn't that what you are against? Reparations for slavery means giving you my hard earned tax money. I don't want to give it to you dude. I love my Mom, brother, cousins, friends, etc, so many people Hovah, and I'm not giving them my hard earned money either. If it was an absolute emergency I would obviously help out to the best of my ability, and bend over backwards to make things better for people I love, and help alleviate the financial pain and suffering. I feel that your suffering is psychological or emotional and I don't think giving you my money will help. Historically most people have been denied opportunities by the elite class. It's something that can really be infuriating but most of us have to come to terms with it in order to be at peace with ourselves and the world around us. When I say most of us I mean basically all of us. Unless you're in the .00001 club.

In an earlier post I commented on a specific tribe being the ones with the most success in modern times. It's easy to prove true, but even with that being the case, the math doesn't change much. Most of the tribe suffers alongside of us. I have a few buddies that are members of that tribe that have been trying to get licensed since the beginning but they're not the .00001 % either. Neither are all of their ethnically similar friends or family members. Most suffer alongside us Hovah. Having dreams that don't come true. The pathway to salvation is inside of you. It's in your heart and in your mind. You won't find it in a cannabis permit.

Of the more than 60 million white americans, yes there are poor white americans excluded from the practicing the activities of business and management. And yes of 70% of the total wealth of this nation is in the hands of white americans. This couldnt happen without a majority of white americans excepting this dynamic. Lets not kid ourselves or ignore the history of this complicity. 50 years ago ALL Americans couldve had world class health care and housing courtesy of a strong US government. Poor white america consciously made a decision to NOT except these benefits because black americans wouldve also benefited.... Reagan exploited this dynamic and ushered in the further weakening of US government.... And if US citizens arent protected by their government they are more susceptible to illegal means.. I'm addressing the quote from Hovah that I highlighted in my post regarding " a few white men.." It was also a reply to Hovah's post on reparations. I was trying to stay on topic as he requested a few posts before mine. Regardless of anyone's opinion or emotional response to a tough situation, we're all in it together except for a very small few. If you guys have low self esteem, or are ashamed of your race or whatever it may be doesn't change the fact that I'm a white dude that wants a permit and can't get one and neither can any of my white friends. If the system was based on excluding blacks only why can't I get a permit?

The black population in the US is about 13% of the total population. If .00001 percent of people from any race that want cannabis permits get one, that's means all of the super racist white dudes like myself and all my white friends are excluded as well. Shit, even if it's 1.0% of the folks that wanted permits get one, which would be like a wet dream around here, me and all my white friends would still be excluded. If you want to use your imagination to invent something you should think of something positive.

If you don't like San Francisco then move. The place is disgusting and anywhere that looks nice is filled with rich folks that will only make you feel even worse about yourself than you already do. Head to the burbs, or somewhere rural, outside of the cesspool which is any major city and you'll see people are more friendly. You still won't get a permit unless you're rich as fuck. Good luck.

Been living in this hell hole SF for more than 5 years and every year its becoming apparent that black Americans are not wanted and are systematically excluded from all industry especially the MJ industry. Of course if you are a decendant of slaves theres ways contribute to California's economy in its well stocked prison industry or assigned to the local sheriff dept. with heavy fines for frivolous traffic tickets in debt peonage.

At every sector of the California's MJ industry there are barriers to entry with ridiculously high license fees and requirements meant to exclude those who need it the most. And even if you meet all of the requirements and open a store, the city of SF will rezone your location and forcing you out of business. I personally saw a successful black owned MJ shop of 5 years refused a new lease by the landlord. A month later, 2 new white owed well funded MJ shops opened to take up his customers base. So please, do not believe California is this bastion of white liberals with an unbiased elevation of all men. It is elevation but its solely for white men and those who will kiss the king of white america. The California Cannibus industry severely reflects con and is infected with this politics. We are made to believe the only people the posses the ability grow weed, own & operate the industry of Cannabis in California are white americans that intend and should be allowed to monopolize everything cannabis.

Anyone with a similar experience or has evidence to the contrary, please post.

SF has Democrat leadership and it is the democrats who were associated with Slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow. So, it should be of no surprise that blacks are used as political objects and then cast aside. I live in Oakland. They call our towns "democrat run shitholes' for a reason. Did you vote for Trump?
