^^ this is exactly the right idea. Eventually the big corporations will barge in, but there is always a market, especially in washington, for small batch, locally grown, sustainable, bio-dynamic, organic, dank ass shit. Just like there is with beer/wine. Most idiots go buy Budweiser, but a small percent go to the micro-breweries, that will be the niche market.gingerale - a cannabis factory is exactly what phillip morris is going to make, which is what you say you do not want to be.
its supply and demand. you say you want to supply the best product at the best price. big deal, everybody wants to do that. the bigger your farm gets, the harder thats going to be. the harder it is the more tools your going to need. a long way down the road you end up with GMO weed seed that is feminized and autoflowers, because 'best' and 'price' are the demands of the market, and the demands of a legal market have not been seen for almost 100 years.
and i am telling you the best bet for us. small - local - fresh.
family owned farms are growing heirloom spinch that CANNOT be harvested by machine beacuse a)the seed is cheaper b) nobody else grows it c) gourmet restaurants demand unique and niche and will pay for it thanks to market demand(foodies)
this is exactly what we need to do. from the small family farms, to the high end quality brick and morter establishment to the scrutinizing cannabis connoisseur. all of these things together in a safe and regulated industry will be the most ideal for everybody - from pot head to church lady.
"I want to open the worlds largest and best cannabis factory, which produces high quality recreational cannabis products for a low and affordable price." -is exactly what some really rich guy at phillip morris is thinking about and i think that is the wrong path(for us).
but it might sound like i am not behind you. i am, i want you to have a nice business growing cannabis, i would like to buy some of your product and experience for myself.
so ill go second: i would like a dozen or so farms of several hectars in varying geographical micro climates growing from seed - heirloom(pre85?) old world hybrids and crosses of modern elite clone only plants using an organic/bio dynamic greenhouse farming technique to make high quality single batch full melt clear dome dry sift.
also a bakery for 'resin specific edibles'(Girl Scout Cookie-GS Cookies)
either way expect to make no more money than current wine makers(still a lot)
Being better than them, along with plenty of political activism, fueled by dollars from cannabis sales.
Who's talking about a family farm?
You did. Cannabis is farming isnt it? I'm pretty sure your resources are not to the scope of Monsanto and others in ties with the federal government. That makes you a small farm in their eye... a likely target for extinction.. just like the small farms that have tried to get in the way of Monsanto.Who said anything about a small farm?
Again..those that try to take on Monsanto and his federal allies quickly learn that they cannot continue to afford such business expense. Their budget is a hair bigger, and their tactics are ruthless.Yes, they're called lawyers. A standard business expense.
I agree. There will be a revolution..a much needed one. This is one of the reasons we face the problems we do today. Corporatism... tightening the noose around people's necks in the name of elitist profits/control.. One of the reasons many of us are so hesitant to see cannabis go legal (their court) vs. decriminalized. A lot of people staying afloat in this country because of the underground cannabis trade. These people, our people, who may not be the most savvy experts and business entrepreneurs to compete in a legal climate will likely see that income taken away from them in light of newer cheaper big AG produce. We don't have to overcome it. It's about to overcome itself. All those rules and regulations are currently destroying the American economy. Why do you think the economy mysteriously isn't recovering despite billions of U.S. dollars being poured into it? The noose can only be tightened around people's necks so much before they revolt. Political winds are shifting all over the globe and war is looming everywhere. The government can't just keep passing more and more rules and regulations and taxes and expect to be able to do that continually now until eternity, and think that people are just going to hum right along with their effective 50% tax rate with no negative repercussions. There is going to be blowback, and soon. What we're seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg.
The system will destroy itself roughly in about the same timeframe it would take to get well established and in a key position in the cannabis market. Prohibition isn't the only thing coming unraveled right now. In fact we may even be headed toward a world war. We have sooo much bigger concerns on the table right now that the Federal government simply isn't going to have the resources to really fight this. Budget concerns are everywhere and there simply isnt enough money to jail all these people. The prison industrial complex is just going to have to take one for the team. The only thing needed for a smart player is to hire the best lawyers, make the best plans, and simply be the best and most prepared in every respect. That is how you win at anything. This is why I'm not too worried about what's to come. I know I (WE) will win.
