I am basically running a bhogart that I built myself before bhogart existed. I based it off the terpenator design. Top fed. Ball valve for the column.
Thanks for the response.
I do not feel comfortable using a heat gun around the setup so I wasn't able to tell where the puddle was at the bottom. The first pour was significantly deep (3-4") which was most of my butane loss. The following pours were about 2". Poured into a pyrex, then scraped onto parchment.
Can you discuss what you are pouring into? Are you pouring into something that is directly being placed into the vacuum oven you are using?
Can you link me to a stainless steel line? I'm not using one. Also have a sight glass in which probably should come out if I will be running dry ice.
Pretty awesome how the waxes get stuck to the bottom of the spool and don't entirely pour out.

I notice a lot of people mentioning the exact % of water weight in the material they run.. How are you guys determining how much moisture your plant material has?
Do the flexicraft hoses come with flare connections?
Exact?? By weighing a sample before and after complete dessication the first time and guessing thereafter.
Hey GW,
I thought I'd ask you it here since it can get a bit unwieldy trying to find stuff on the blog. I'm interested in building a larger capacity unit, maybe one that does 2lbs or so. what would the corresponding column size be for that along with base? it seemed like the 10*12 spool looked about the same size as the paint pot.
thank ya!
I've worked with multi-stage high pressure compressors and the like in the past and was wondering if you wanted to add a second recovery pump to the system in the never ending search to reduce recovery time would you run two pumps in parallel or series? The parallel option would require some additional plumbing which would be relatively easy and the series option would just require a few more hoses.
If you did go with the series option and the pumps were not identical, oh lets say you have an Appion G5 Twin and an Appion G1 Single would you have the G5 hooked to the MKIII with the G5 feeding the G1 connected to the recover tank or would you connect the G1 to the MKIII and have the G1 feed the G5 hooked to the recovery tank?
JIC fittings, are these what refrigerant hoses use? The two websites posted above for SST hoses mentions JIC threads... The flare fittings that we are using I believe are SAE, is that correct?
So after reading the handbook I am going to upgrade my sight glass to something stronger and I wont be using it when I do dry ice runs. If its not rated like my stainless steel hoses or better it seems kinda silly to mess with the chances. I set right next to the terp when its running and the sight glass is overhead. .. yea I wont go there... Just my thoughts on the subject, to each their own
Good idea, I will be doing this. I have just been running without the sight glass because the thought of glass shards flying everywhere is too scary.

Btw Mr. Durden did you get your steel hose from flexicraft? I was looking to order one today but on their hose configurator there is no option for 1/4" diameter. Also among the fittings to choose from, the appropriate one only says "JIC SS FITTING," so I'm guessing I should specify that I want a female swivel to make the steel hose like a charging hose.
