The one in the video is still a lot louder than what they try to make ppl believe in movies....
I don't have access where I am to the specs of any silencers but even the most quiet one around is still 4x louder than the average movie props are.

Sorry didn't read it all... looks amazing however!

Have you tried burlap/hessian screens to reduce salt damage. Something like http://www.shrubcoat.com/saltShields.aspx. But it's easier to make them to size and not out of plastic! It's not going to make the salt problem go away but may provide enough wind and salt protection to get you to a harvest. Seems a shame to use all that diesel with that equatorial sun blasting down on you. A 50m x 1.8m costs around $170.

It depends on what you want.

If you stick with the very basics it's fairly affordable...BUT that means no AC, only basic food such as fish, goat etc. (meaning very little imported stuff), no alcoholic beverages (just befriend tourists if you live on one of the tourist islands, have a few good stories for them and free beer is guaranteed ) and the list goes on (you get the idea).

In return if you stay away from the tourist places you are dealing with always happy people and perfect weather 99% of the time.

Most of the bad comes with strangers who think the life here works the same way where they come from. It doesn't.

Housing is a different subject.
You either can afford the the privilege of living here (be filthy rich) or be considered a local meaning you were born here, are married to a local (or are related in some other different way) or have earned your right to live here (the last is hard to explain).
