Hola amigos, I know its been a long time since I rapped at ya, but i thought I'd share what I'm hoping to be an excellent cross of two popular strains from great breeders:
Female Parent: BOG's Sour Boggle [Sour Bubble x (NL#5xBubblegum)]
Male Parent: Dutchgrown's Killer Queen Redux (DGS C99 x RES G13x)
As expected, both strains (all grown from seed) produced great results and lived up to my expectations for vigor, potency, and taste.
I kept most bud for sinsemilla but chucked pollen from the best KQR male onto the rockstar female SBG.
Selected Sour Boggle Mom:
The flowering photo above is of the SBG mom taken on day 28 of flowering. She reeked of bubblegum and fruit, and based on her structure and fragrance was estimated to lean heavily to the Sour Bubble/Bubblegum pheno with little NL influence. Her high after a 3 week cure was potent, relaxing, and a nice but not couchlocking body buzz with that quickly followed with a great cerebral feeling leaving the smoker "inspired but not wired". She was easily the most potent smoke of the entire Sour Boggle pack.
Selected KQR Male Parent:
It's not his best moment, but he dropped pollen like a champ and has the studliest characteristics I had to select from.
He had an earthy, piney flavor with plenty of pineapple fruit aroma; all of his female siblings were killer pineapple phenos that I've heard one is to look for in the KQR strain. Smoking him resulted in am immediate head high followed by transition to a nice body buzz that was felt gently but rapidly traveling down the spine from the frontal lobe, through the brain stem, and down through the lower back and throughout the periphery, relaxing the smoker as it traveled through the nerves. This selected male parent was assumed to be an even mix of C99/G13 and was ultimately selected for breeding due to vigor, balanced phenotypical representation of the strain, and (of course) heavy trichome development
Terpene profile of selected parents based on scraped stem olfactory evaluation (1-10 with 10 being maximum; scores of 2 or less were omitted):
Male KQR: Fruit-5 Pine-6 Spice-3 Earth-4 Musk-3
Femals SBG: Fruit-6 Bubblegum-7
The main female keeper of the last grow was the most pineapple reeking KQR (She's known as KQR2), which was also (to my extreme liking) the most potent. Plenty of clones of KQR2 were made using a perlite/wick cloner among other clones of selected genetics that weren't preserved via seed. Due to the grower's vacation absence, all Sour Boggle clones were lost but the best genetics live on through this new hybrid's seeds, which to date have produced two healthy seedlings:
The two seedling are shown with the vegging male clone of their dad. I have high hopes for this cross and will update this thread as things progress.
Does anyone know if these two strains have ever been crossed? I'm hoping I can backcross these back to the KQR male and/or my keeper KQR female, and if I'm lucky I can make F2s should I get one M and one F.
I also want to pull this cross further down the indica spectrum by crossing it to the Afghani x Black Domina (unsexed) seedlings I'm running, and to pull the SBGxKQRs up the sativa spectrum with an as-of-yet 100% sativa that I have yet to obtain. I managed to pop 1 out of 10 of the Sam the Skunkman's Original Haze x Skunk #1 freebies - it showed its tail after 10 days between moist sponges using a modified version of D.S. Toker MD's germ machine and I'm awaiting it's emergence from the soil with healthy cotyledons.
I think I'll have a indica dominant winner from one of the Afghani x Black Dominas to breed with this new (as of yet unnamed - want to smoke her for some inspiration first ) SBGxKQR strain. Any suggestions for the as of yet undetermined sativa dominant parent to outcross the next part of this little project? I'd like a clear, creative, non-racy, non-anxiety 100% sativa to use for that endeavour. I'm looking at DJ's F13, or something from ACE maybe. My mind is open.
Until then...
Cheers,
Snowday
