I went to transplant my seedlings yesterday and noticed a dramatic difference. The FF and Miracle Grow had at least 100% larger and healthier leaves.
So, if you leave your seedlings in their tray longer than about 6 days there is a dramatic difference.
Thanks THC. I'll probably do a journal. These will veg for a couple weeks more while my C99 finishes and dries and then they will go directly into flower.
Gotta make room for my chemchunk, sour diesel, and chemdog!
interesting experiment - i just wanted to ask what temps you were experiencing throughout the test?
because rich soils like FFOF will be richer and more likely to burn seedlings when the temps are warmer.
i once diluted my regular rich soil by half (with peat and perlite) to germ some seeds in and burnt the sh1t out of them. using regular soil for seedlins is something you will probably get away with 9 times out of 10 but not all the time
Air temps were on the low side and ranged from about 73 to 68. The soil was on a heating mat and I didn't measure.
I would lower the time frame (for noticeable differences) from 6 days to 5, maybe even 4 days. When I transferred the seedlings the root was just starting to break outside the rapid rooter and all seedlings could have rooted about 2-3 days longer without any side affects.
But at 4-5 days the nutrients in the MG and FF were already making themselves beneficial to the seedlings. With a typical 1 week rooting period, the MG or FF is clearly the superior medium - at least with PPP, C99, SSTH.
