I don't have any comparison but I can post pics of my veg plants because I just gave them all a heavy manicure 2 days ago.
Im talking yield comparison.

lol, she'd be done before you made a dent defoliating that bitch!Lots of leafs.... Much more then indoor. Must be in case an animal decides to come and eat some leafs. LoL. Kidding.

@weezard Lets see it happen!! Im curious.
what I noticed about the scientific study is that it was written in 1970. 40 years ago. im not saying it isn't valid but its not recent.
plants have evolved for millions of years. cannabis has evolved so many characteristics to increase its chance of reproduction. if defoliating produced more viable flowers/more chance of yielding fertile seeds, wouldn't the plant shed its leaves naturally?
instead the plants produce loads of leaves. im open minded to seeing defoliation being a high yield technique, but so far every pic ive seen has airy buds of lower quality. does anyone have pics of nice thick resinous dense bud from a defoliated plant??
Been there, done that in the late '60s.
I was knee high to a grasshopper and ready to try any dang fool thing just for gits n shiggles.
Played with Gibberelic acid, colchicine, seed irradiation, defoliation,
Carbon Dioxide, grafting, stem splitting, ad nauseum.
Screwed up a lot of innocent plants, we did.
Alas, no digital cameras back then, and film processing was beyond my budget so we kept notebooks.
Now, I'm an MMJ patient with severe plant count limitations in order to stay legal.
Can't risk my meds, so this will be up the the 110% believers to prove their opinions with useful evidence.
I am now sitting here admiring my fat, juicy harem of unmolested ladies, and looking at painfully sickly looking Plucked plants.
Still, Nobody knows everything, and I could be wrong.
So, I'm suggesting that one or more of the "pluckers" use half their crop to validate their opinions.
If they fail, at least they will have more yield as a consolation, yah?
Aloha, Y'all
nah, we were using flouros! In the 60's growers were using hot ass Halogen lights to grow indoors, and indoor grows were extremely rare. So are you saying that you defoliated an outdoor plant back in the 60's??
Im confused.
nah, we were using flouros!
^lower crappy buds are dependent on two things.. genetics- some plants lower buds are fat and dense for example cookies, stardawgs, some ogs etc.
secondly low light levels.
if you lolly pop a strain you wont get shitty lowers.. but its not the same as defoliation. its simple. leaves make carbohydrates, carbohydrates plus nutrients produce more bud. im sure you guys get better lower buds if you let more light through, but I think that will be at the expense of the uppers.
I remove the lower branches too, but to be honest I also used triacontanol on the last grow and a lot of my mates are reporting heavier crops of denser flowers using it too so that could have been responsible
I know its off topic but I really recommend triacontanol, I think its brilliant. Someone I know consistently hits 500g per sqm and last grow got 650, only difference was he used tria
