room for a tent now, what should i go for?

I have finally got rid of my wardrobe (crappy closet grow), and ive rearranged my room so can put a tent up.

Ive got 85cm width x 90cm depth to play with.

I was planning on going with a dr80 tent (80cm x 80cm).
Presume an extraction setup is part in and part out tent. Will i have enough room for an extraction kit? how big an extraction kit should i get? any brand quieter than others?

want to maximise yield so want either a 400 or 600w bulb. Thinking about going for a dual spectrum bulb, so i can grow 5 indicas and 5 auto-flowers until there is no space left in tent, and then take the auto-flowers to the greenhouse

Heat and noise are my main concerns tbh. Is a cooled reflector a good idea?

any suggestions on a kit would be most appreciated.

My current kit is pretty shit, 1 x sunmate reflector, 1 x 250w white cfl, 2 x 250w red cfl, nutrients: aarde soil component, multi-zyme and bud xl

i used to closet grow, but mine was a '(good closet grow)'
-kept me happy for years.i had the light[250w] attached to the clothes rail and the ext fan also, then i decided to move the fan because of the weight,a while after the police walked into my empty house and saw the fan!!!! ssssssssss.

Its 90cm from the back wall to bed and 85cm from wardrobe to windowsill. If i got a dr80 (80cm x 80cm) tent i would only have 5 cms space outside tent for the extraction stuff (presuming that the hole in the tent for extraction is on the side rather than the back?) is this enough?

Basically how much room do i need outside the tent for extraction gubbins?

im a complete newb mintz and i dont know anything about extraction fans or owt. If i ordered a 5" fan i hoped that it would come complete with all i need to setup i.e., scrubber, intake etc... is this not the case?

You should be able to hang your extraction gear, ie fan and carbon filter inside your tent. I don't know if the holes for duct from the fan are at the back or the sides - you'll need to check this out. Theoretically, you should be able to run duct from your fan to outside your tent but maybe not with the obstacles your have in your bedroom.

Fan and filter (in the US they call it a 'scrubber') are seperate components. Some companies sell the two together with some duct for a single price. So, if you ordered a fan you need to get a filter too as well as a couple of meters of duct.

The tent will come with a variety of holes in....mine (DR120W) has one at each "end" (the wide wall has the door) and one out of the top.

You use these holes for both air/ducting coming in and going out, and also for electric cables......in my setup, I have the fan pulling air thru the carbon, thru 4" ducting from carbon to fan, thru more 4" ducting from fan thru one of the holes (in the "ceiling" of the tent) and venting outside the tent. Two of the holes give me passive intake, and a place to stick the electric cables.

With so little exterior space, you'll need to vent out of the top, if the tent has a hole there, or look at a DR60, maybe.....but all you really need to have coming out of the tent is some ducting and some power cables.

I'm running a 400HPS, and that's plenty light enough for a DR120W (2ft x 4 ft x 5ft 4").

Keep it simple to start with......you will need

Lamp (250 HPS or 400 HPS is fine or such a small space)

Reflector for whatever lamp you get (this will include a lampholder i.e. a socket for the bulb, and a power cable to the ballast)

Magnetic ballast of the same wattage as your lamp

4" extractor fan

4" carbon filter

10 metres of 4" ducting.

Including the tent, don't expect to get much change out of £400.

Don't forget timers and a relay (which splits the load off the mains into 2 plugs rather than one, to prevent the massive power pull when your ballast fires up from melting the contacts in your timers) if you don't plan to be there every 12 hours to turn lights on and off.

ive got a dr80 with 250 all the fan filter fits inside with aid of few zipties for a 400 id say 5 inch fan with acoustic dcting and fan speed controller would be as quiet as its gunna get unless wanted to d.i.y an acoustic box

Feel free to check out the thread in my signature, I went through a very similar situation as you. I have a DR80 with a 4'' S&P TD-100x fan cooling a 400watt HPS.

If I were to do it over again I would go with the 5'' S&P TD-150x to give myself a little larger margin of error. (My tent stays completely fine as long as my ambient temps are in check)

After hearing multiple other brands of fans, there is no way I would ever get anything else besides S&P if you are concerned about sound. They are arguably the quietest fans on the market, and you can still hear them.

looks ideal for a small tent bud.the tent will facilitate you hanging the filter anyway,so that 5cm space you talk about is ideal for some slightly squashed [well 2"] air intake ducting.. job done.
i'd also go for the 600w (93000 lumens.i think) alot more than 400w apparently,i say apparently cus i had massive stuff with from my 250w when i used to closet grow.;)

cheers for input every1. i want to maximise as much of the space got available so reckon will be dr80 or budbox75. if its only bit of ducting thats hanging out the tent im sure i can squeese 1 out.

will probably go with a 5" extraction as then i can use it if upgrade to a bigger tent later on. will check out your thread though trick

where are you extracting your hot air too way i see it got few options
a:just out top of tent
b: into ceiling
c: along wall and clipped/nailed next to window so that can blow out open window
d: under bed keep you warm in winter lol

I currently have my tent which is in my closet exhausting straight into the master bedroom. My room is pretty darn large, and I have blocked off the heating vent. The tent with a 400watt still warms my room up quite a bit when the door/window are closed. If you do not have a way to vent your bedroom easily, I would definitely say a 600 will cause problems.

My small 4 inch fan easily cools my tent, until the tent heats up my whole bedroom to the point that I start sucking warm air into the intake.

gonna try and make use of the window as much as possible. The problem i have is my room (was originally a granny flat) its downstairs and an extension to the house. the room gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Literally right outside the window is a garden table, where my old man reads paper and drinks his tea in the morning on a nice day. Often have meals out there on a nice day too.
Dont want hot cheesey air blowin on my dads noggin if can be helped.

So will have it pointing in direction of an open window most the time, i could have it as you said either goin under bed or in the back of the wardrobe beside the tent when danger (people in back garden) is present (the back of the wardrobe is only thin chipboard and i can make a gap to stuff some ducting in.

i have a 1.2m x 2.2m budbox xxl in a 2 bedroom flat with a couple of 600w lights
and ventelation is a major issue.
its not going to be too bad in the summer as i can keep windows open but in the winter
it looks suspect with a window or two open all the time.
you will need to keep a couple of windows open in the house so the house doesnt get
all steamed up and you get nice fresh air.
i intake from the window in the grow room and extract into the house, running the lights
at night to heat the house.
you will need to keep your bedroom door open all the time apart from when a visitor comes
and just try to keep a nice fresh flow of air going through the house all time.
the other idea i was thinking of was to put one of them bathroom extraction fans in the
window to run your ducting out of,but that still sticks out where i am.

as the room is on the ground floor, i keep the curtains closed all the time. So hopefully can have the ducting strategically placed pointing towards the window. i dont know owt bout extraction but presume there is an intake pipe for fresh air, and an outtake pipe to get rid of stale air. Should i have em both pointing to window, or would i just be intaking the shit air from the outtake pipe?

I doubt any of neighbours will be suspicious, back garden is quite secluded. But family may become suss and theres the old cops in the sky, who seek out heat signatures etc...But thats the risk you take i guess. if i extract into the house like darkhorse does guess it will take the search choppers out of the equation.
