edit: oh is it rice hulls in english? not caskets? rice shells? well, u know what i mean... i even found a place that sell me a 2 kg bag of it for dirt cheap.

That's true for many situations.

Having said that, the addition of perlite, pumice, vermiculite, sand and even rice hulls, provide benefits beyond aeration in a strict organic growing environment.

One professional organic soil mix (Sunshine Organic Growers Mix) contains peat moss, coconut coir, perlite, pumice & vermiculite. One of the best 'blank potting soils' available in the Western states. Add compost/EWC, rock dust and your usual soil amendments (blood meal, bone meal, fish meal, fish bone meal, seed meals, et al). and you're good to go.
