Whats up IC? In the past I’ve always ran individual grow threads…. Usually in the ACE forum as they are one of my favorite breeders and I have a love for NLDs. These days though I’ve been exploring a bit of everything …. Including Indica types and modern hype strain hybrids as well so I thought it appropriate to simply start a perpetual grow journal.

June of 2020 we moved into a new house and I convinced the misses to let me take over the rather large laundry room as my personal grow space. I’ve went through multiple experiments and revisions over the last year switching from organic soil to coco to autopots.

I’ll do a bit of a recap of some of my favorite plants I’ve grown this year to catch my thread up to current status.

I worked through ACEs Panama line pretty thoroughly, starting with 9 plants out of the breeders pack, progressing through a 30 plant OP seed run and back testing the keepers against each other before selecting a red pheno as my keeper.

Also grew out a very nice and super frosty plant from their Oaxacan x Panama R&D offering. Pure lemon-lime fizzy soda pop effervescence coming off this one. She smells delicious.

Next up I have been slowly working my way through a beautiful cross by @MadMac The Doors x Original haze. I have three phenos and one male I call “Daddy Doors”. I’m holding onto him until I make my final selections as I’m having a very very difficult time deciding between the three and I still have more beans to work through 🤘🤘🤘

Here’s an excerpt from Macs haze thread that I wrote about the different phenos:

Here are a few pics of Doors x Ohaze pheno #1. Some will have seen these photos and heard my descriptions before as I’ve talked about them elsewhere and earlier in this thread too. As mentioned above I still cannot put my finger on it’s terp profile it’s something I’ve never smelled before. It’s the fastest with a flowering time of 8-9 weeks and frostiest of the bunch I believe also, although it may simply be the darker background coloration of the buds that makes the Trichs stand out better. Great density for a hybrid with this much haze in the lineage. The finished product has an almost ghostly purple coloration laced with silver trichomes. Effect is strong and pyschedelic but it does have more body to it than Pheno #2 and also pheno #3 so far…. But Im just getting around to smoke testing #3 for the first times so we will see if that remains true with time. This pheno #1 does have a stimulant component to it but it is more psychedelic like a mild mushroom trip. Also I might be able to say it’s stronger potency wise than the other two as well.

Doors x Ohaze #2. This has become my favorite I *think*, although it’s really very hard to say as they all are great. While growing it has a menthol/wintergreen aroma to it but after a solid cure its terps change dramatically into a heavy black pepper and spices profile. Strong pepper & spicey notes that permeate the entire house if the lid is left off the jar.

Ive wrote about this phenos effect several times but I’m enamored with the effect of this plant. When smoked alone it is more cerebral than pheno #1, with less body…. But *possibly* less potency also. However, when pheno #2 is consumed with alcohol it has a synergistic effect that pheno #1 does NOT have. It turns extremely stimulatory in nature …. Herbal cocaine. Breaking this out at a party, BBQ or get together raises the energy of the entire crowd. People will spend all night blabbing away like everyone just went and did lines in the bathroom. I’ve affectionately named this plant “Chatty Kathy” because she effectively turns everyone into one. Visually she has less bag appeal than pheno #1 IMO ….. less density than pheno #1 (but more density than pheno #3). She also is the longest flowering of the three with a flower time of 11-12 weeks.

Not the best pic and oddly enough the only pic I have of her, I’ll need to change that very very soon when I run them all against each other in a 3 way shake down for the title 🤣🤣🤣

567E6649-3B44-4723-B5BC-17E4EAC07F38.jpeg

Then there’s this pheno #3 That i just grew out. Less density than the other two but looks extremely hazey imo. As mentioned she has a sweetness to the terp profile that the other two do not have. Pheno #2 has a wintergreen/menthol smell to her *when she’s growing*…. But that changes completely to black pepper and spices after cure. This pheno #3 has that same menthol profile while growing but it stays detectable after cure…. Behind the mango sweetness upfront. This is why I say pheno #3 is Mango Menthol. Upfront mango with menthol on the backend. Flowering time in the middle at 10-11 weeks. I’ll need more time smoking her to get to know the differences in effects that she might have. It’s too early for now to fully know.

What a great lineup. I think I have ten more seeds to hunt through….. plus the (Doors x Ohaze) x Ohaze beans too. I have no idea how I’ll ever do it because I can’t makeup my damn mind about these three much less adding ten more to the mix 🤣🤣🤣

Pheno #3

Then I went down the NLD rabbit hole. I don’t have a ton of pictures as some of them didn’t turn out s good as I had hoped due to errors on my part as a grower …. while others turned out pretty good.

@MadMac Ohaze S1 in early flower. Unfortunately I later burned her with 1.2 EC

@elanius THH x Golli 90s haze which turned out amazing. What a foxy lady! Extreme resin and trich coverage, no buds at all just foxtails off the main branch and very strong smoke! I am very bummed I lost the mom while I was away on a trip and unfortunately miscalculated how much water she’d need while I was away.

Then I switched over to autopots, coco and hydro nutes…. With a whole set of new learning curves and a whole set of new knowledge gained from experimenting and making mistakes.

ACEs Malawi. Gorgeous plant…. I locked her out again while I was away on a trip and the PH in my res drifted too high. Still she turned out some fine and powerful smoke @dubi

Then I went down the hybrid highway and started popping some more modern day hype strain hybrids.

In-House Genetics Platinum Kush breath. Ridiculous frost, not much terps…maybe earthy… . But strong smoke that is surprisingly clear in the head for a hybrid.

Incredible stuff all-around.

Thanks brother! @goingrey

Exotic Genetix Code Red. While growing this gal has loud sweet fruit punch terps. After jarred up she gets a little gassy or fuel on the backend behind the fruit punch. Great dense nuggets, bulletproof plant too that isn’t fussy about PH or nutes or really anything. The only downfall I can find is she’s a bit of a stubborn cloner but she will take you just have to take extra cares with her

Exotic Genetix Money Maker.

This one didn’t get a fair run as she was affected by the drifting PH in the res while I was away…same as the Malawi. Not only that but I had to take her early at just over 9 weeks when she wanted ten weeks or more. Still, this thing REEKS of straight gasoline. I literally smells like I spilled gas on my hands at the pump…. Just RANK. Will definitely grow her again giving her a fair shot. Strong robust plant too and great yield of dense stinky nuggets.

You can see here she was pulled early while not fully ripened. I needed the tent open the next round of veg plants were outgrowing their spaces…. Bad planning on my part.

….. still she trimmed and jarred up nicely and like I said the buds are RANK putrid gasoline

I think that pretty much catches me up to my current grow. I have four Solfire Genetix Bitties. Hoping to find the Blockhead pheno everyone is after but on only four plants I’m not holding my breath.

Running them in 3.9 gallon autopots under two HLG650 Diablos. Trying out a new nutrient line too for the first time, Blue Planet Nutrients elite line it’s doing wonderfully so far.

From left to right Bitties #1 is stockier, bushier and more WLD. Bitties #2 looks like a Bahama Mama leaner with long internodal spacing and narrower leaves…. and those can be stretchers so I’m going to flip in the next day or two to ensure I don’t run out of headroom. Bitties #3 is always a bit droopy. She doesn’t seem very happy and #4 is doing well with a nice even canopy.

I just completed my second round of LST and first round of lollipopping. I’ll do a second round of stripping the lowers after they are into stretch

Im curious if you flipped this one to flower early? Maybe 12/12 from seed. I've got a pack of Aces' Honduras I want to grow soon. Nice thread by the way!

Thanks brother! I think I flipped her relatively small, yes. If I remember right she may have only been 8-10” at flip time and you can see this is what she stretched to 👍👍👍

Day 1 week 2 12/12 on the bitties. They have stretched nicely since last week and I’ll be happy if stretch stops here or even if it continues another 5”. Pistils are starting to get pushed so I’m guessing they will start slowing down soon.

The final round of lollipoping was completed this morning, I’ll probably wait a few more weeks then do a very very selective round of removing large fans that are blocking budsites from light. Other than that I’m just over here in autopilot with the autopots :D 👍

Bring on that blockhead pheno!

Left to right Bitties #1 and #2

#1 is more WLD
#2 is more NLD (#2 has the strongest stem rub scents in the tent also)

…. Left to right bitties #3 and bitties #4

#3 is more WLD like #1
#4 is more NLD like #2 but #4 has the least fragrant stem rubs in the tent.

I went in there and did a good rubdown on all of them this morning.

All four plants have similar stem rub scents, as mentioned #2 is the strongest …. With #1 and #3 being next and #4 being the least loud.

Scents are very chemical … yet “fresh” …. Like toothpaste mixed with window cleaner lol. Maybe hints of mint or juniper

Just jumped in the shower and what a weird coincidence. My plants smell exactly like this shampoo. Tea tree oil and peppermint … 100%

Liking it all Ozz, from wee ones to jars. Saw the Panama in your first post. Thought I knew what I wanted to grow this early winter. Still have a couple Pan. clones hanging around. Rethinking things.

Thanks Lotto… things have been rocking lately. Taking a bit of a learning curve ironing out the kinks of growing the NLDs in autopots. I seem to have the hybrids down with this method. Usually I’ve always been in soil with NLDs and used the pot to restrict root space to make them do as I please lol.

Can’t do that in the autopots they don’t really care. Still I think I’ve got it figured out. Will be running a few more test NLDs in the autopots soon and once I get them going start to finish with no hiccups I’ll probably start pheno hunting them some more and doing full tent runs with them. The modern hybrids sure are pretty though. Can’t deny that….. but the exotics still have my heart lol
