Outdoor growing in the U.K.?

Hello :tiphat:

I know this guy from the UK (outside of london) and he claims he can put out pre-flowered clones in june without them re-vegging and they will finish by august. Real strain, no autos. This is without a Green house / blackout shade or anything. All natural. I don't really believe him so I wanted to come here and see what you guys say.. I was thinking the earliest they would flower (and stay flowering) is august.

Not my experience.
Only autos or semi-autos have that response.
I have done it myself, i´m in east anglia, and all my pre-flowered clones , lower branches from flowering plants, re-vegged and are only now starting to flower.
I would love to know more info about the strains and methods involved but it sounds too good to be true ;)

when asked how he does it he gets defensive and says "because i done it when u were still in nippers"

I'm not from the UK so he thinks i'm clueless. I looked up the daylight hours there and i told him i didn't see how it was possible.

Not the helpful kind of guy, is he?
We better wait for some more uk growers to pop around:)

Putting flowering plants out in June in the UK will cause them to reveg. Even if he put them out on the last day of June, they wouldn't start thinking about flowering until the second week at the earliest of August.

Take what your man is saying with a pinch of salt, sounds like a Jackanory.

keep in mind that its late september before you get down to 12 hours daylight in the UK.

you really need to pick your genetics - ones especially bred to flower early like geurilla gold and its hybrids are the only way to reliably get a good harvest in the UK. in a good year you might some 'regular' strains to finish.

autos worth considering too. i havent smoked many autos but apparently they are a lot better smoke these days.

I've heard that if you veg a clone under 24/0 and then plant her out in July/August she will flower due to the large change in hours of light...

18/6 apparently does not work as well...

Haven't tried it though...yet!

It may work to a certain degree but probably not in june. Depending on the strain if a plant is well into flower it may continue to flower even under 14 or 15 hours of light especially if the days are getting shorter as well.

yeah i told him to get autos for outdoors there and he said "autos are shit" He hasn't tried any autos since lowryder days... I said "how can you make a reg strain finish by august without greenhouse/blackout shade?"

then he went on to say I'll put pre-flowered clones out in june...

He's not an experienced grower,, just talks big . i figured it was bogus, thanks guys.

ive read somewhere on here of a guy who grows indoors flowers with12/12 for 3 weeks then alters the light to 14/10 or more once the plant passes a certain stage it doesnt turn back but there is a reason why he did this and it takes them longer to finish off iirc he does it with indicas i think surely this can be done outside too if flowered for 3 weeks inside under 12/12

Hello,, i ve got 2 plants flowering since 2 weeks, and 3 with just preflowers so i know already that there is no chance for them....to finish outside...I wish to have the opportunnity to finish it inside..but not this year.. I might take loads of cuttings for the winter season...

Good luck !

You must know exactly when your plants/clones wont try to reveg to make force flowering work without light dep.
June is too early, i'm way south than you and i must wait the end of July to keep plants flowering at full force. Also this wont work with sativas obviously.
This is a great thread on the subject by Silverback (RIP):

Sounds like a twat to me

I`ll second that , as for him doing it when
"because i done it when u were still in nippers"
He`s talking bull coz we all know that it`s nappies not nippers .

Ask him to prove his claims .
Autos have come a very long way the last few years , i have seeds of at least two types that will pin you to the couch & several others that will equal regular strains in potency but what do i know ? i have only been growing outdoor uk for 20+yrs .

If you veg them on 24h light most/all plants I have tried go into flowering on 15h light... so if you veg on 24, plant out earlier than most would believe, they will go straight into flower. believe me, it happens to clones in Spring all the time to me. That is when the daylength is getting longer, by sticking them out. With the longer UK daylength, this would probably reveg on you, but matey's half flowered plants, would probably carry on to finish..... I believe him, props too for trying shit out.

In the UK the daylength is more varied than here nearer the equator, have a good look at yours, it varies a lot up and down the country http://www.gaisma.com/en/dir/gb-country.html is a good site to really study and understand.

FWIW, in the UK you are mad if you do not run Super Autos, now only slightly less potent than big name "normal" strains, but grown well outdoors, a far better than most of the shite you see everyday off the street. Top banana shit to most smokers, done right, critical that they are allowed to finish properly.

Outdoors I normally havest at the begining of November as first frost dosn't often come before November.
Force flowering plants indoors then putting them out to finish earlier is common practice.

If you check UK you'll see that the longest day (around solstice - 21 of June) is e.g. 16h 30m in London and 17h in Liverpool so force flowering non-autoflowering strains in June in UK still sounds like BS to me:

I know an old guy who's grown outside for years his weed is amongst the strongest stuff I've smoked its a of pheno of Thai x skunk he found that grows well in our climate. He leaves most outside to finish but also brings quite a bit in every night to start it flowering a lot earlier. I'm not sure of exact dates oir how long he brings them in for but it is a good technique to make th most of the sunnier days. Semi autos are even less likely to revert back to veg.

The important bit as I see it is that he is talking about half flowered plants, it matches what I have seen, they just stay in Flower and finish.

Sometimes, as you harvest, here for me it is my Spring crops, you see some new regen growth popping out of the bud, but you get a finished bud just a few % points short of perfection, still fab bud though.
