Please help identify the cause of this destruction, what kind of insects
and any home remedies and/or cure....as well as any suggestions on corrective actions to be taken

Could be caterpillars or grasshoppers. Since you're in Ontario go to Canadian Tire and get a pesticide solution.

I got Wilson 50% Malathion Concentrate Insecticide at my local Canadian Tire and like it.
