i have done a bit of a comparison on this topic, organic soil, organic nutes
1 grow was in a 2 gallon container, good result
i revegged and cloned, identical soil, identical nutes, same lighting(though there were fewer cfl bulbs for the smaller plant)
the 1/2 gallon grow simply sucked, plant just kind of malingered with little growth after a week or so of fair growth
put the clone back in to a 2 gallon pot, bang, up she grew
not claiming this is true in all cases, but sometimes organics are better done in decent sized pots
