hehehehe glad to hear you are so excited with your first Purple Haze x Malawi sample, UHN ;) It will be fire after 3 months of curing.

It's the same Purple Haze #23 mother that you liked so much in our old Purple Haze x Thai limited edition. Rotten berries sounds strangely delicious :yummy:

Hope you are having a great start of 2021!

Thanks, dubi. You and yours as well! I’m going to give her a nice long cure. The green and purple OTH x Meao Thai’s are now cured for over 12 months and they are both divine. The smells are dynamite and the smoke is sooo smooth.

Here’s the POTH x Malawi a couple months in.

I ended up with about 390g (14oz) of trimmed flowers.

Maybe this winter I sprout some more pure OTH seeds. It would be nice to have another one outdoors, but I need to grow it somewhere I can keep constant eyes on it given it likely finishes around this time next year.

Looks divine! :yummy:

It will be great to see you growing Oldtimer's Haze outdoors this year, i think we are in a similar latitude and climate, the strain finishing around Xmas time or Reyes (6th January) the latest.

Yes, I remember taking one a number of years back into the first few weeks of January. That one started flower indoors and finished outside. I’ve got a couple of potential spots for the pure OTH. The one more inland where the main harvest including the p haze x Malawi was this past year. Hot very dry summers followed with warm fall and early winter days and cooler evenings. I’ve also got a spot or two more coastal, so more humidity...especially in the evenings. Really depends on whether we have El Niño or La Nena next year. This winter, it’s been the latter and very dry so far.

Here's an OTHaze male I have. Currently letting him drop pollen to hit up a couple of Super Malawi Haze girls. Unfortunately, I didn't end up with a female, but that's okay.

Yep, that's the idea. Main reason was that I only ended up with 1 male from the OTHaze seeds and I wanted to make a bunch of really hazy seeds to go through at some point. I honestly can't remember what happened to the other OTH seeds, but he's been in veg for about a year, waiting until I had time to let him loose.

Should be a fun cross to test out, although I don't know when I'll get around to it. Either later on this year or the beginning of next year.

Good effort! 12months...I love that.

Thanks Grover! Those OTH x Meao Thais are pretty much as good as they will get I think. The highs are dynamite. The smoothness of the smoke is like night and day from the Uber dense dispensary hybrids that are lucky if they are cured for 3-4 weeks. The green version is tropical and citrus fruit while the purple holds that darker liquor aroma so well.

Male OTH plants are hard to come by. I’ve had exactly one so far. Here’s some of the mother flowers and progeny to my lone male OTH.

Looks great, UHN. I remember reading that males are fairly rare, but then I ended up with one, and didn't really think much of it. I suspect that he'll pollinate a couple of my indica mothers at some point, almost certainly including the Bubba Hash. Those should be interesting.

Usually around 9-10 months. Longest outdoor season for Oldtimer's Haze would be to germinate the seeds in March/April (depending on your climate) and finishing in late December/early January. Planted in the ground and with a such long growth they can easily reach 4-5 meters.

Good effort! 12months...I love that.

Glad you managed to pollinate your Super Malawi Haze with your lonely Oldtimer's Haze male kamyo :)
To blend Yo Sammy's Nevils Haze with Oldtimer's Haze is something i would like to try at some point.

So I've got 2 OTH going in the indoor garden. One is a jungly yellow male and the other is an unknown but I have a funny feeling its a boy also. Both are getting grown out and the pollen shared between mango thai, zamaldelica and a few other hybrids.

Mmmm sounds so good. What a brave cross. I am smoking pure Thai now and I agree, the smoothness of the smoke and the wonderful highs are really too good to miss. Mine is cured only 4/5 months and still getting better.

My Thai is 50% Meao (It is Double Thai) and there is an uplifting kindness to it that comes from the Koh Chang side, I think - but the OTH x Meao must be electric as hell - like smoking the finest tasting electric eel!!

But my Thai outcrosses were to a Panama female and 2 Bangi Haze males - to tame the Thai - I should have been braver, like you!

I did once grow a Thai / OHaze and it was beastly but some of the nicest tasting smoke ever. I am pretty sure SamS made the seeds but they were not a commercial release.

I am starting to wonder if the Pure Thai highs are as sublime as any other - even more so in most cases. There is just so much to enjoy and explore.

Again, hats off to you - a 12 month cure is giving a special girl what she deserves. It is worth if it it can be done.

XyZ,

forgot to comment that would be fantastic to do a grow diary with Flying Dutchman's/Seedsman haze and Oldtimer's haze, growing side by side.

l33t is planning a Neville's Haze (sent directly from shanti) and Oldtimer's Haze grow diary!

Well, I was thinking of doing a "Clash of Hazes" this year in my "outdoor yard" in La Perrera.... I have your A5Haze * OldTimers Haze ," Green Haze feno", the Extreme Haze (NL5*Haze, "Extreme Haze feno" * OldTimers Haze, "Green feno") from Tropical Seeds Company, and the Original Haze * The Doors ((NL5* Haze A) * Haze C), from MadMac (with origin in Seedsman and Mr Nice, I think; and apart from that, the Original Haze).
But the 3 are "very similar in principle" and I think I'll diversify the other genetics and their harvesting dates more...
Of course, the A5 Haze * Green OldTimers Haze falls for sure. Do you think it could be ready in my area without greenhouse by the 1st or 2nd week of January, at the latest? (Apart from my much worse inland peninsular climate than your Mediterranean, remember that my northern slope is much colder than the southern Sierra Morena).
I can handle the "Christmas" ones, but not the "carnival" ones, heh.

Thank you very much for your generosity and time.

The long cures really pay off. So much love from everyone who has tried the Thais x OTH. Thanks for all the kudos!

I guess should be fine for january as they will be quicker than pure OTH. And green phenos of OTH usually are quicker than the purple or gold OTH phenos.
The extreme Haze could be a little more extreme compared to the 2 others. But still has Nl5 genes in it.

OTH green pheno on the right
