Odor Control when all else Fails?

Q

quest

I open a bottle of Pine-Sol OUTSIDE near the garage and had several pounds drying in the garage and no one could smell a thing. As long as your eaves don't hang lower than the tops of your windows or doors you will be alright. Otherwise the Pine-Sol could build up in the eaves and make its way into your house through the doors and/or windows.

Maybe buy a few glade scented plug in's and plug them in all around the grow room. Not sure if this will completely overpower the weed smell but im sure it will help. :)

IIRC O3 generators have issues with generating acid in the duct, and that it fundamentally works best when mixed together in a room, before exhausting.

get the right ducting, these things are really bad for you and bad for your plants

i went to a liquidation store and bought some metered spray dispensers for like 3 bucks each

I got 5 of them in my flower room, 2 one scent three the other. It smells like I make candy in there now

I use mint oil, its really cheap and its labeled as a degreaser/deodorizer.

it works better than pine-sol, I still smelled cannabis with the pine-sol but not with mint oil.

I found it in the cleaning products section of the grocery.

I totally agree, sorry if my post was ambiguous, by
"works best when mixed together in a room, before exhausting"
I meant another room ...downstream of your growroom, you do not want to be around the O3 and nor do your plants.

By the "right ducting"you mean there are specialist ductings that are made to be used with O3 generators ? I seem to remember that there are solutions for the acid problem, either a clever bit of ducting or an inline O3 generator that also cleans up it's mess... Can anybody confirm please ?

Wow. OK - Out of town for the holidays but I'll clarify a bit:

The carbon filter is on the intake to the air that is going into the lights and then through the fan and then out the dryer duct. As in,

BigCarbonFilter->Light->Light->Light->10"Fan->InjectingOzoneHere->OutsideDryerDuct

No way are the inhabitants going to fry garlic every morning and I wouldn't ask them to do this.

I partly covered the entrance to the basement and it seems like the negative pressure may be a little better. I've also covered the intake vents for the heating system which pulled air from upstairs. Finally, I am now recycling some of my air within the basement to give it a second shot through the scrubber as well as to heat my cloning/veg room.

Things seem a bit better and harvest-time is here now, anyway.

So does ONA really work, though?

Do you have an actual room in the basement that you are trying to maintain at a negative pressure or are you just trying to keep the whole basement under negative pressure?

It sounds like the house has forced air heating so I hope it is the latter and away from the heating system.

Also not sure what kind of lights you have but make sure they aren’t allowing any air in bypassing the carbon filter.

And I agree with what the others have said on proper use of O3.

That could be part of your problem you want your fan to be attached to your carbon filter that way you know all the air being pulled is going to have to enter the carbon filter. The way you have it set up there could be the smallest leak in your ducting or hoods and cause it to smell, even if you don't think theres a leak.

To the post above, I've been using a Uvonair 5000 for 5 or 6 years and never had a problem like your saying. If the ozone accumulates too much then yeah it can cause the leaves to look like they're being burned, but nothing as severe as your saying. I will usually run the ozone generator non stop towards the middle of flower.

I agree with this, have the carbon filter pull the air past the lights, and not shove it through them. It may not be the solution to the entire problem but I believe it is best practice.

how long do filters last before they don't absorb the smell any more? is there any way your filter is old and not absorbing properly? It sounds like your setup is right my only thought would be that you might have a leak in the room other than the intake taking away from your neg pressure or the filter is not working

I think you need to create a controlled growing environment instead of having the grow room wide open in the basement. Buy a roll of panda and some 2x4s and build your room. This way you can better control the amount of air that comes in and goes out, catering your negative pressure to what is needed. I'd bet your incoming air isn't filtered, either, and creating an enclosed grow space would help with that too.
Can you afford a grow tent? If so, that's a quick and easy way.

I have 3 growlabs(1000 wt each) and use carbon filters on the exhaust as well, but I also bought a vaportek optimum 4000. I set it to 2.5 and that takes care of any lingering odor. I set it to 5 when drying a harvest.
