high bro,i think the way ur describing where the entrance will be placed,a short bureau or dresser that is on a hinge covering a entrance you could neel thru and get in to the wide open space.leo would most likely be looking for a spot the size of a human to get thru standing up,but if you make it like half the size of a regular door i think youd outsmart them.
as long as you can get supplies and harvested plants in and out,who cares if ya gotta bend down to get in ya know?
or anoter idea if there is space to do it would be build a small closet at the mid landing of stair way with a false rear wall so you go in the closet open the rear panel and then into ur rooms...if i think of anything else i will come share.
