custom made me a aquarium stand for my turtle tank 50in wide x 30in deep x 3ft tall... i got a spare 400w hortilux in my closet and another closet down stairs full of clones for my outdoor project.... was wondering if this setup is possible to pull off due to temps . money is tighter then a nuns puwang. so just wanted to hear your thoughts if i should even attemp this or not . i do have central air upstairs but it doesnt get down to 70 upstairs like it does downstairs. all i got for setup is a 400w seems like a bit much for that space eh?

Let me talk to you D_O_G

First off. NO. a 400w will not be suitable for that little amount of height.

Now you can pull it off if you do a few things. Cooltube, 6" NOT DIY. you will NEED the extra inches to vent properly. You will also need to SWC. Same as a DWC but with an under the bed sterilite. You will have to scrog the shit out of them and keep them comfortable. Add 2 10" circulation fans one on each side and you could be good.

Get a sterilite tub that is 39x17x7"tall. Make a U scrog frame, that fits with in a 30x30 area under the light. Leave the space on either side and use the extra space for fans and maybe a 5g bucket attached to a float valve to make sure the SWC stays full. Some will say to use the space against the walls for reflectivity but I say screw that. You can stretch the limits of the light if needed to. You can veg less by adding plants, say 12-15 veg for 2weeks instead of 5 veg for 2months.

You will also need a proper fan or maybe even a dedicated fan for VENT and a smaller fan for scrubbing. 2 fans are ideal in that little amont of vert space.

Now having said all this, it's problly cheaper to just buy a 250w without all the tweeks. With a 250 I think it'd be pretty straight forward.

HTH...

Peace

I hope you're not planning on growing below that fish tank.

All that water + electronics = no no.

I'd be too paranoid.

fish tank is solid 1in plywood 2x4s all the way around its not going anywhere and the tank doesnt leak and wont leak i got a backup system incase filters fail or clog it all floods back into a larger aquarium. i got the basement to grow in but i tore it all down after the c99 grow. basement floods after alot of rain . i stay on my aquarium making sure turtles have everything they need everyday and filter carts are clean. the turtles are my pride and joy after my bully. i was thinking drilling several 1/2in holes in the back panel and aiming a boxfan blowing out inside the aquarium stand or turning it around tareing the doors off the stand that way the escaping light just hits the wall behind it? the wy its looking its not worth it ? i dont have the money toput into it no need to waste time or genetics
