Hello all! Welcome to my grow journal/diary/thread for my first run of the season.

Seeds: Mid-Grade bagseed

Setup: DWC Style Hydroponics

Growing Medium: Hydroton Clay Balls in 4" Net Pots in 5Gal Buckets

Nutrients & Additives: General Hydroponics Flora 3 Part Series
and General Hydroponics Floralicious Plus

Plant State: Vegitating until 8-17-07

Current Nutes Mixture: 2-2-2tsp & 1/2tsp Floralicious Plus

The flower box specs are:

5' 5"T x 3'W x 2' 10"D

One 2'L Can-Fan active carbon filter matched to a Can-Fan 196cfm fan.
One 400cfm squirrel cage blower fan. Both fans intake lines are hooked to my grow lights. A 175 watt Metal Halide lamp, and a 250 watt High Pressure Sodium lamp, both housed in seperate hoods / domes. The exhaust for the fans is T'd at the ceiling and blowing out through the roof.

Both plant buckets are supplied with air via its own General Hydroponics Dual Diaphragm air pump. The res tub & controller bucket, is supplied with air via the same style pump, shown below.

Now, the Plants!

Now, the Plants!

Temps in the plant's buckets are steady at 80F, res & controller 78F & 77F. Temperature inside the flowering box is always 80.5F to 85.5F
Relative Humidity in this setup stays between 30% and 42%

PPM of plants 351 and 359, PH of plants 5.8 to 6.1
I try to check & adjust these factors every day.

2nd Day of Veg

6th Day of Veg

14th Day of Veg (8-13-07)

Left Plant (Big Green) 14th Day of Veg Upclose

Right Plant (Richy Rich) 14th Day of Veg Upclose

Will have more pictures this upcoming weekend.

I miss DimeBag Darrel.... Such a great guitarist.

Thank you for the compliment. I try to give as much TLC as I have time to give. Time, not enough hours in a day.

This Friday these bitches get switched to 12/12 w00t!

Question about flowering. Do I just go with 3-2-1 of nutes, until I see growth? Once new growth is seen, I am supposed to hit them hard with nutes (w/o burning), and then flush hard 3 days before harvest?

Very nice set up, should produce a couple really nice plants, are you planning on cloning them at all?

Well, you could run the 3-2-1 for stretch (transition)...or the 2-2-2...I chose the 3-2-1 for stretch....after transition you can go to the 1-2-3
No reason to 'hit them hard'....unless they ask for it :D
res temps over 68F are risky...

IMO 78F is not gonna cut it...(just trying to help)
Here are a few suggestions that might help

1. Keep the air pump away from the HID....for cool air
2. Ice jugs for the res/buckets
3. Maybe try evaporative cooling (which would also raise you RH%)

Good luck!

TML16 - Thanks. All the plants on this site get me wet! Especially those colorful plants with the deep reds throughout the leaves and leading into the buds, mmmm.

Dr Dog - Thank you, I do plan on cloning. I'll probably build a cheapy bubble cloner and take an equal amount of cuttings from each lady (hopefully they are ladies or i'll be cutting some dicks off!)

BR - Thank you. So lovely getting all these comments and helpful tips from such experienced growers!

-VT- I'm leaning towards the ice jugs bit. I think ill be saving my water bottles from my lunchs. No wonder my hubby bought 70 bottles of drinking water! Could you elaborate more on why plant buckets and res' should be lower in temperature?

J-Roc - I designed it and I had my hubby help me build it. I'm the impatient type, so there are things yet to be done before 12/12. Need to cut a 4" intake and mount a 4" 60cfm vent fan. Also need to finish caulking wherever the light leaks from.

Updates on the way. . .

Big Green Plant

I just finished checking PH and PPM levels. PPM for both plants was 354 and 368. I raised the Big Green plant to 454 by adding 1-3/4tsp GH FloraGro, and 1tsp GH Floralicious Plus. I raised the Richy plant to 403 by adding 1tsp GH FloraGro and 1tsp GH Floralicious Plus. Will update with more pics on Friday. Thank you all for stopping in. Lets smoke a fatty. :joint:

Someone asked me that over a year ago in another thread in the hydro forum...here's a link to the post I made then:
Dissolved Oxygen Diatribe

Keep up the good work :rasta:

looks great, J-Roc, your just jellouse :), with gh the water temps can be that high just add h202, even with root rot you will get an awsome yeild.

If you're lucky...I wasn't :( I used h202 with GH in high 70's (78F-79F) and got root rot...more than once, lol...my luck stinks...most DWC growers (incl, uding the legend highgrade from OG) recommend optimal root zone temps....root rot hurt my yield (in my case), but that A-10 and Mazar was potent...ahhh...memories  I ended up getting a chiller, and finally had an awesome run with GH 3 part...highgrades mix (the 3-2-1/1-2-3 at 33%)

slips - I'm hoping 5oz. But the rotten root talk is bugging me.

What does root rot look like when its starting, brown goo on the roots?
And H2O2 will kill the root rot? But H2O2 also kills the beneficial bacteria in the Floralicious Plus treatment so adding peroxide would have to be to a minimum or i'd end up with buckets of dead bacteria, lol had that happen a few weeks ago.

J-Roc - I just put freshly planted seeds by the window hehe :)
Lots of Love is a plus though lol
Thanks for the compliments.

Looking into getting a bottle of GH FloraKleen and two 1/2" quick disconnect shut-off valves for the back sides of my plant buckets. They would make cleaning ALOT easier without having to flood and drain with tap water 9 billion times over. Just shutoff, disconnect and clean with a bleach/H2O solution and then hook back up.

On my previous post I stated i'm hoping for 5oz., I really meant 5oz each.

Yeah...I know, my humour is not that funny :pointlaug
I think bud porn is the porn we can all appreciate equally :canabis:

One under MH and one under HPS eh :chin: In the res theres no way you could alternate them. Which shows you better results?
Probably might work to your advantage having a mixed spectrum though

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out :lurk:
