Thank you, red. Though my carpenter skills are not impressive by any stretch, my planning and design skills make up for a lot of shortcomings and I really learn from everything I have been doing. I'm thinking the production cabinets won't be works of art but will be welcomed with open arms and a few "ahhhhs" if I can pull it all together.

I'll be doing them as complete units ready to rock, Hank. That's the plan so far.

I put two coats of polyurethane on the faux dresser drawer fronts today and they are starting to look okay.

However; I feel like they are starting to look a little bit like they should. The stain color really starts coming through once you put that polyurethane on it. If I get the chance I may put another coat on this evening, but it is likely I will have to do it tomorrow as the fumes make it difficult for my wife to breath (she has emphysema).

I put the last coat on the dresser drawer fronts and as soon as they dry this afternoon I will clean out a space in the garage for the cabinet and put the cabinet in the garage until Monday. On Monday I will put it in the house upstairs so I can get some in situ photos and (eventually) do the video that demonstrates the box (yes, I will be posting the totally sick video on icmag as pot porn gone radical).

In this picture below you can see the screw studs sticking out of the box to which the faux dresser drawer fronts would be attached, but these screws are a 1/2" too short, so I will have to pick some up to attach the fronts. This means I will probably not be done with the box until Monday when all the guests have gone home and life can return to something that approaches normal.

The plants are starting to get going. One is still sitting there with only its first two leaves and may have died, but I won't give up on it quite yet.

It looks like a dresser. It has fine European lines with black semi-gloss paint framing the rosewood that has been stained to a reddish-brown chestnut color and rubbed out with four - count them - four coats of polyurethane. An outstanding piece of furniture for your home. Nobody who is not looking for trouble will think this is anything but a fine piece of furniture and will never suspect that it holds inside itself a complete, self-contained blooming operation, vegging area, mom area for up to four (4) mom plants and room for cloning. Complete with lights, ventilation, shelving - everything needed to start except the plants and planters.

This my fellow stoners is what the future for the small, hobby grower is going to become - nobody's business but your own.

Everything else is just a distant second and now we all know it... ;)

Move went well today though I was surprised how heavy the cabinet is - way heavier than your average dresser. The damn thing is a tank. At any rate that is done and now it is sitting out in the garage humming along. Sitting out there next to the freezer and I have put the plants in it. Three of the four seedlings are putting on leaves (even though I didn't pay attention and burned two of the rascals) and we are underway. I'll have some more photos this weekend.

Merry Christmas to all!

I hope everyone had a great holiday. We've been going through a cold snap and the plants haven't grown at all. I can only hope that the plants will survive this unbelievably long cold snap. Usually, the temperatures are in the mid-70s during the day and around 65F at night, but we have had more than a week with the temps only in the 50s during the day and last night the temperature got down to 32F. The rest of the week's forecast is for more of the same. Last night I took the plants out of the cabinet and set them on my kitchen table over night. I set up the bloom chamber shelving and placed my digital thermometer in it overnight to see how warm the bloom chamber would get and how cold with the fan coming on only once an hour. I checked it this morning and it stayed well within an exceptional range so the plants were put back into the cabinet this morning and I will monitor them for the rest of the week and hope they can survive this cold snap and prosper. More pictures will be posted!

Today I took the time to take down the ventilation system again and cut away a larger panel for the exhaust side and increase the size of the intake side. I didn't think it would reduce the noise of the fan system much (it is already very quiet), but the tinkering produced a lot lower system pressure and that means the box will probably be a bit cooler and I don't have to worry about those CFLs burning up the plants.

The cold snap killed all the plants so I put some seeds into germination and should have them started in planters tomorrow. A small setback but we won't worry about it too much.

The mission continues and we have a whole new year of growing in front of us. :)
