Moving to aus for a year

i am getting a visa and coming for a visit. A few questions for you australianers!

Where should i live? what are the people like? should i keep to myself, talk to everyone, or be somewhat social? Here in the USA everyone is afraid of each other for the most part. :dueling:

Can i grow inside? Would it even be worth the hassle? ;)

what is the price of pot? :sasmokin:

Can i get a job? hows the economy?

Weather Seasons? :badday:

Is there any chance an american can get residency... i think i might like it too much.

I know your women are HOT! :bat:

any other suggestions, besides the NO TIP policy ;)

Australia is slowly becoming like the USA - gun crime out of control in Sydney - so you may feel right at home there......

Go live in Adelaide, cheap pot, nice girls, great lifestyle.......

But preferably, stay in the states, and do your bit to vote anti republican over the next few years....

Mate you have got your whole concept of Australia wrong. You need to forget all of your questions and just get your ass over here and relax. :smoweed:

Cool man, you should enjoy your time here, most foreigners do.
Infact, American's applied for permanent residency on record
numbers last year, breaking 2004's record.

Where should i live?
I live in NSW (Sydney), and I have to be honest, don't move here.
Adelaide is the way to go, afterall, it's the pot capital of Oz,
it's also the Serial Killer capital of Oz aswell (they're rare). :D

what are the people like? should i keep to myself, talk to everyone, or be somewhat social? Here in the USA everyone is afraid of each other for the
most part. :dueling:
Australians character is pretty much the same all over Oz.
We are rather social, so talk to everyone and everyone will talk to you,
nobody here is afraid of each other (unless you've got something to hide).

Can i grow inside? Would it even be worth the hassle? ;)
Growing inside is cool, you just need to keep the grow to yourself
for safety reasons, just like in any other country.

what is the price of pot? :sasmokin:
I haven't bought pot for around 5 years, so I can't help there.
But I used to be able to get a Quarter for AU$75.oo.

Can i get a job? hows the economy?
The ease of getting a job depends on what state you live in.
The economy in on a high and has been on the rise for over 8 years,
which is infact a world record for any developed nation. Even through
Depression our economy had risen.

Weather Seasons? :badday:
Summer = December, January, February.
Autumn (Fall) = March, April, May.
Winter = June, July, August.
Spring = September, October, November.

Australia's weather pattern is very similar to that of South Africa,
so you can expect warm to hot weather almost all year round,
which makes it great for outdoor growing.

Is there any chance an american can get residency... i think i might like it too much.
Yep, if you've got a clean record you should have little to no problem.
And as I said before, American's applied for permanent residency on record
numbers last year, breaking 2004's record. So there's a chance you could
run in to a few blokes from home (but I think most Americans move to
New South Wales and Queensland).

any other suggestions, besides the NO TIP policy ;)
Yeah... Socialize man. Aussies don't like people who keep to themselves
all the time, and if you do, we'll only alienate you further.

Hope I've been of some help...
Awol.

Its funny that 2 people have said to live in Adelaide because its usually considered too boring by peeps from melb and syd. I like living in Adelaide. its quiet for the most part, and the going out scene isnt the best, but if you want to live a relaxed lifestyle its pretty good. Lots of jobs here too, I can find an ok job (500 - 600 per week) in less than a week and I have no skills.

As far as Adelaide being the pot capital, its often viewed that way, and theres lots of cheap bud here. Unfortunately most of the bud that your likely to come across here is some type of chemy hydro Super-skunk or Big-Bud hybrid. theres a lot of shitty commertial hydro around. You can find the odd good batch, but I havent bothered buying anything for years. The growing here is focused on yield above all else. Ounces are $200 and bags (2-2.5grams) are $25 as a standard regardless of quality. There is very little connoisseur market.

Outdoor is the best thing about Adelaide bud. We have a very good season and the intensity and UV makes for some potent bud. In the Adelaide hills you can find some beaut spots. Plus you can still grow 1 plant outdoors and its not a criminal offence, just a fine.

Hope this helps.

Tasmania rocks!
Its the hidden gem that most aussies & the rest of teh world forget about. & thats the way we like it! Our weather is very mild in the summer & pretty cold in the winter. If u can keep the critters away from your plants they'll grow really well outdoors. Employment is a little harder than the mainland but that is improving & also depends on what sort of job u're looking for.
Life is pretty laid back & quiet down here, just perfect for a geratric old smoker like me!

There's a place in Oz called Tasmania..?
I thought that was apart of New Zealand,
being they're all inbred sheep lovers aswell.

Just wondering...
Isn't the north commonly susceptible to flooding, or is that a rare thing?

Tassie has lots of creeks & rivers & gets lots of rain thru the winter so there is often flooding around waterways every year. Its a pretty hilly island too so unless u have a place in the flood way then you're fine.

give me a yell just before u come down Awol, maybe we can share a joint or 2

If by chance you end up settling in Victoria, send me a pm cool. My dream outdoor location (Victorian) is near my fathers place up near the Dandenong Ranges, sunshine in abundance, clean air, fairly safe, nice altitude and if you like color, Indica's purp up crazy up there. Happy to hear your coming to our beautiful country, I'm quite sure you'll enjoy your stay. If, however, you do end up living in melbourne, be warned, the weather is     crazy! the local saying is 4 seasons in a day, can be :fsu: if you dont plan ahead and carry an umbrella. Either way, I'm sure you'll love Australia and (most/some) of it's people. If you do end up having any probs, lookin 4 work etc. give us a pm, might be able to help but no promises. Well, keep us updated yeah and I hope your plans come to fruition in a nice way... yoshi

Thnx for the info man. It'll be Summer when I'm there, so hopefully
Tassie doesn't get much rain during then 'cause I'll be on a bike.

That would be great man, thanks for the invite. :smoke:
I'll be cruising with a couple of mates on bikes and we have no set plan on
where we'll be going yet, but I will try and get out to your neck of the woods
by myself (with my fiance aswell) if we settle overnight near you.
