Hello, and Happy New Year.

I'm curious if ace could reproduce two Indica strains that are often difficult, if not impossible to find. They are Cheberghan and Maple leaf Indica. I believe they're both pre 76 Afghan IBL by real seed.

These two appear to be worthy of preservation, and I would rather get mine from seed boutique. The attitude is always sold out of these, and ace products as well. I'm in the USA and would like to see these two live on forever. Maybe by another name?

:thank you:

Hello and happy new year too! :)

Im not familiarized with Cheberghan but have a bit of experience with maple leaf indica, i grew it in 96 when sensi seeds just released it and i can tell you it was the best indica i've ever grown, maybe taskenti and uzbeki are more powerful but old maple had incredible aromas, it was like children shit (yeah i know, doesnt sound very pleasant but it was incredible aromatic and high quality). Not sure the state of the sensi offering now, but for what i know they no longer have the resources and genetics they had in the 80's till mid 90's. I know how they are producing their stock right now and i dont trust too much in the quality of their lines ..

Old good Maple leaf would be worth for preservation that's for sure, but hey! it's an indica and charas traditionally comes from highland sativas :)

I started to breed in mid 90's with nepalese kathmandu sativa and north indian parvattis, unique sativas with unique traits so hard to find in today's commercial genepool. The nepalese kathmandu was a like a strawberry incensey haze with a lovely meditative clear kind of high, the parvatti were more diverse with real musky organic aromas.

I wish the bou carried The Real Seed Co's offering, too... They have a unique service and product line.

Dubi; true, true about North Indian sativas for charas. I've even thought about hand rubbing some of the plants I've got going. Hehe. :)

I would also like to see more North Indian, Nepalese genetics out there. From spending more than four years out on the Indian continent having some of these lines in stable seed form would be fantastic! The Nepalese Jam is some of my all time faves and will in the future try the pure Highland Nepalese from Cannabiogen.

The real seed co don't really offer stable cultivated lines (except their Kumoni) when it comes to their Indian, Nepalese offerings. I think we all know that Ace and Cannabio could do it better.

I for one would be very interested in anything Ace did in this area...... I have the Nepalhaze, NepalJam... Is there anything else dubi can tell us about future releases??

I've been thinking to go to North India and Nepal this end of summer, but not sure yet .... depends on work and a few personal things .... or maybe go mexico and wait till december for the end of the world :D

Thanks for remember this one :) Nepal Mist was an ok cross, very exotic aromas but the potency and effect were not so good.... i still have some old nepal mist f2 seeds but not sure how they will germinate .... i also did nepal mist f2 x haze and thai 79 (from 20 thai) x nepal mist f2 but had no luck trying to germinate them a few months ago.

The cross is a fantastic idea and is worth to re make. Crossing that lovely strawberry incensey nepalese mum to a strong kali mist male. It would be easier to do the F1 in fem format, i mean choosing a kali mist female for the effect and aromatic traits (church incense, lemony thai incense or what you are looking for...), reverse her and pollinate the nepalese mum. This would be the closest to 'my idealized' nepalese kathmandu x kali mist genepool :) Sorry for my english

Im so glad you have been enjoying the Nepalese Jam and others ;)
There are no plans right now for future nepalese releases.... you are right, a trip to Himalaya is in order :)

I too was looking at the Real Seeds Kumoni. It sounds like it a nice strain but there is so little information about it.

I was thinking it might be a great strain to cross with Nep Jam in order to help further tame its wildness yet keeping with the Charas theme.

i think too its great idea... hope youll get to that fem. cross someday... just for kicks  if you have old kalimist line preserved, then you have a jewel... nepalese kathmandu sounds great i saw pic on over grow... what about nepalese line which is in bangi haze???

wish ACE has more lines with charas sativa within... i remember canella also.. there was manala sativa? i remeber reports about coffee aromas... oh yes!!!

Please Dubi, if you have still those genes, please do something nice with them...!!!

I don't know what it is, but I find my self drawn to strawberry, I've been trying to collect them....

Hey scai. The Nepalese Highland from Cannabiogen is the exact same gene pool that Ace got their Strawberry Nep from (at least I'm pretty sure it is, someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Why not buy a few packs and search out that particular pheno variant? It would be a lot more fun to do it this way than Ace producing an S1 of their Strawberry Nep.

Like Ace:s Nepalese jam? Or what?
Now, I need you to point me in to right direction, cause I don't know what you mean? Because, I'm more than eager to do what you say ;)

Ace and Cannabiogen work together on many projects and so share a lot of the same plants/genes etc. This is why you'll find the Nepalese Jam and PCK in both their catalogues.

Cannabiogen recently released the Nepalese Highland in it's pure from. The Nep Jam is a hybrid with their special Jamaican...

Here's a link to Sbou with the Highland Nepalese listing.

There are a couple of grows of this in the Cannabiogen form here on Icmag if you want to check out structure etc..

Hope that helps..

The Highland looks like a nice strain. How does the Highland's effects compare to those of the Nep Jam? I know they are closely related.

I'm curious, how far apart must two strains be genetically to get a nice hybrid vigor from an F1 cross?

For instance would crossing the Nep Jam with its own Highland Nepal parent strain be likely to result in increased vigor? From what I have seen in the various grow reports, both of these lines already produce very healthy and vigorous plants.

I ask because I was thinking that a little down the road it might be neat to grow and make simple pollen chucking f1 crosses between a few different charas strains like the Highland, Nep Jam and kumaoni. But I'm not sure how likely this is to turn out well.

I imagine that being closely related. they would likely have more consistent offspring than mixing something like a long flowering tropical sativa with them, but at the same time I wonder if they might be too closely related to really benefit from the crossing?

I liked the idea of nep jam x kumaoni or Highland x kumaoni.

Hi The Hatter,

From my understanding the Nepaljam is a backcross of the Nepalese. Meaning that the initial cross was Nepalese Highland x Jamaica 85'. Then Ace/Cannabiogen backrossed this hybrid to the Nepalese mother making it three quarters Nepalese and one third Jamaican (they may of done more work to the hybrid since then). I think the reason behind this was so that the resulting hybrid that went to market would have more of the desirable traits of the Nepalese. These being hardiness to multiple environments and to mould/bugs etc, structure and a lovely happy high.

If you were to cross Nepjam to the Highland Nepalese it would be another backcross but to a different generation of the same Nepalese gene pool. This would make the resulting plant even more stabilised to the Nepalese side.

The Kumaoni you mention are land race in origin and have yet to be selected through human hands. The highland Nepalese are also landrace but have been selected through to F5/6 by first Reeferman and then Ace/Cannabiogen. This means the HNep will be a whole lot more consistent in phenotype with less variation. To find good parental material in the Kumaoni (if we're thinking of the same seed released by Real Seed Co.) one would have to do quite a bit of selection to find good specimens. I think you would likely find the majority would be very very tall with small yields. I've spent a lot of time in the area of Kumaon in India and find most of the plants (even if farmed) have been lacking in desired traits for indoor (outdoor they have more to offer me thinks) growing straight out the ground. This doesn't mean that the variety won't have some great plants to select or that the genetics are bad, only that it would take some selection to find the desired parent.

Your right that the Nepalese and Kumaoni are very closely related but because of the factors outlined above and the fact that, because of altitude difference, these two varieties will be quite genetically different. If you were to cross either the Nepjam or Highland Nep with the Kumaoni I think you would for sure get vigour and some good variation in phenotype.. Why not give it a go.. I'm sure you would end up getting lovely smoke and some good Indian based genetics to play with.

Best of luck.. Hope that helps.
